Notice a pattern?

Yes states closer to the Southern border where illegals illegally cross into the US have more problems with adults and children that cannot read go figure. Also states with more Blacks have issues with literacy. Those states tend to be in the South where cotton was produced with slave labor over 150 years ago. Places like Baltimore have big problems with literacy too. So :dunno:

Also something is screwed up with your map Look at North Dakota and Montana. That can't be right. You don't just step over a state line and all of a sudden have a literacy issue.

Where did you find this screwy map? LINK?

High levels of Native Americans and Southern Border states, that's the pattern I see there, unfortunately.
Alabama? Mississippi? Missouri? Oklahoma, Nebraska, Utah, Montana?

They also happen to be very strongly, disproportionally the red states. States that have been historically red since the civil rights act was passed.

West Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri aren't near any borders. West Virginia is overwhelming white, and the black populations (as a percentage) of Kentucky and Missouri aren't significantly different than New Jersey or New York.

What @Damocles and people like him refuse to admit- is that the ICE raids has zero to do with getting dangerous criminals off the streets. Its about retribution against states that went for Harris.

More Blacks and closer to the border than Northern states. Black families tend to not place as much importance on education. Unfortunately a lot of Blacks are from single mother families and statistics show single parent home children tend to get get less education on average.

Southern California is right on the border and has a higher average literacy rate.

Looking at the map, I see what anyone with reasonable eyesight can see...that the areas with the lowest levels of literacy happen also to be where the Republican Party does best in elections.

Looking at the comments, I see what anyone with a brain can see...that there are right leaning individuals here who think that has to do with high black and alien populations in those states.

Gotta wonder why high black populations and large alien immigration people vote so heavily for Republicans.

Hummm.

Utah is the whitest state.

As you migrate out of states that are on the Southern border where do you go next? You don't go to the northern states next. Many illegals seek jobs in agriculture so more agrarian states tend to attract them.

Inconvenient for the MAHA crowd
The historical context is that the North was always an entrepreneurial-capitalist socioeconomic society, while the South was a medieval feudal socioeconomic system for 300 years. The South is still climbing out of that hole.
