What are you guys listening to these days?

I'm a metalhead from way back. Grew up on hair bands in the eighties. These days I mostly listen to metal from other countries though. Not many good things going on in the American music scene right now.

An example, Bloodywood is Indian metal.

Here's another:

This is a Japanese band and a Mexican band collaborating in English and recorded in Germany.

I listen to a lot of German and Japanese metal music. Here are a few off the top of my head.

German: Oomph, Eisbrecher, Unzucht.

Japanese: Lynch, Fixer, The Gazette.

About 80% 60-80s rock with the remainder a mix of different genres.

Lately I've been enjoying Miami rapper Kat Dahlia. This is the list of recently added songs to my "Liked" playlist:

A worldwide collaboration to cover the Led Zeppelin son, "When the Levee Breaks".

Love this version!

My preference is for stuff like EDM, Dubstep, Trance, Progressive, and Electronica.

My one dislike, anything Rap-like (eg., two-line simple rhyming lyrics). It's more egregious when the music is nothing more than a sampled beat that goes with it.

That stuff amounts to Adult themed nursery rhymes recited to sampling. It is neither music nor is it singing.

EDM has it's place, and unless I'm off base all the others you listed are subgenres of it. I am not really a rap fan either but I'm not gonna denigrate anyone else's preferences.

More or less. It's all electronic music, with or without vocals. Here's a good sample of one:

I just gave my opinion of what rap is. If you want to listen, knock yourself out.

I listened to the whole first song/section to give it a fair chance but while it's interesting it's not gonna be in my playlist, sorry.
