The gun dealer asks if you have proof that you're 21 years old. You say "Yes" and show your Driver License.
The dealer says that ,"There is extra paperwork you will need to fill out because the AK is an automatic rifle. And also the process of clearing you to buy an AK takes more time than other guns that are not automatic."
One of the document you need to provide is a detailed personal history.
You will also need to obtain two sets of FBI finger print cards.
Additionally, a recent 2 inch X 2 inch photograph of yourself will be required.
Also you will need to go through a thorough background check through the FBI' NICBCS (NICS) protocol.
The AK-47 you purchase must be one that was lawfully possessed before 19th May, 1986.
The transfer process for the AK-47 involves filling out an ATF "Form 4" - the official application to register and transfer the gun. A $200 tax must also be paid at this point,
Legal possession is only allowed after the ATF has approved the application and returns the $200 tax stamp.
