Folks, get ready for here comes Commie Mamdani

I didn't devolve what, how much or to whom I contributed, just that I have.
And the reply? He is another "rich" leftist (so he says) and says he contributed
more to charities for over 20 years than me. I think he's full of shit...

You did say you gave Damo $20.

So if you've contributed more than Jake has, do you get a higher, softer cloud in Heaven or something? lol

For me the fact that I am blessed enough, and have been throughout my life, to be able to help others out is sufficient unto itself. I'm not sure why a contest is required.

That's what I said.

Yes! Kinda like White Cloud :)

I was not "blessed" like most leftists here claim, but try to do my part.

Has Jake contributed yet? I offered to sponsor him and Walt... My offer still stands...

RB 60, but you sounded "a trumpet before you, ...", violating your sacred text.

I am not a Christian and never will be. So I can tell you without violating anything about donating, and I guarantee you, kiddo, it far exceeds yours.

May I? Each citizen provides for him/herself and other citizens via taxation. The govt. uses tax money to fund roads, infrastructure, fire and police protection, schools, libraries, social services for the needy/elderly, national defense, and so on. It's quite simple and has been a feature of American life for a couple of centuries now. It's not the boogeyman your masters have taught you to believe. In fact, America would not exist in its present form w/o it.
This is a form of altruism.

al·tru·ism
[ˈaltrʊɪz(ə)m]
noun
altruism (noun)
  1. selfless concern for the well-being of others, without care for one's own interests; unselfishness

Humans by nature are usually selfish to one degree or another. They look out for their own interests before those of others.

To get around that, Socialism in ANY form or ANY amount, uses coercion--FORCE--to compel behavior. Taxes aren't given up freely by most, if any, persons. They are required to be paid under threat of law and penalty if not paid.

Society generally will accept some level of taxation to get general benefits from those taxes. The problem with Socialism, again, is that the taxes rise to confiscatory levels and people begin to refuse to pay them in ever greater number. That in turn, requires greater coercion leading to authoritarian dictatorships being necessary to compel compliance.

What you miss in your sophomoric definition is that in any form, to one degree or another, Socialism is authoritarian in nature.

Quotation-Alexis-de-Tocqueville-Democracy-and-socialism-have-nothing-in-common-but-one-word-29-52-43.jpg

In Socialism, society serves the government and the government is the fountain of material wealth to the people. In a Capitalist society, government serves society as a referee to allow people to do as they please within a set of rules. The people are the source of wealth and each individual is able to succeed or fail on their own merits.

Put another way, Socialism benefits the weak, lazy, and stupid the most and the productive, energetic, and smart the least. Capitalism is the exact opposite. Socialism drags a society down. Capitalism builds it up.

That said, most societies see some good in having a restricted and very controlled amount of Socialism built in. The trick is to keep that amount to a minimum and not let it grow to overtake society because when it does, society is doomed.

I once loved N.Y.C. back when Rudy Giuliani was mayor, and back when I took my honeymoon there in the 70s.
Forced to go there? Yeah right, I'll never go there again, and I certainly won't be forced to go there. All you have
to do is look at the accurate meme from the OP to realize that N.Y.C. under a Communist mayor is going to ruin
that city even more than its already been ruined under democrat mayors.
Where's Rudy now? Last I heard he was bankrupt, disbarred and disgraced. All for taking part in crimes for Trump.

That kind of theoretical Socialism has never existed. It does not exist now. All the bleating and crying is due to ignorant people labelling capitalist nations that provide healthcare and a safety net for the people as Socialism. Our wealth gap is horrendous. The wealth that workers create is being taken by the top 1 percent. We are in the wrong.
