I have never met anyone who has actually seen the movie Melania. Does anyone here want to admit seeing it? Anyone?
From what I have read, malaria is trying to become a fashion icon, and she has claimed it is not a documentary, but rather "a created experience" about fashion. malaria does not seem to have a complete set of fashion. We know what she would wear as an avant garde dress to a major state function, but she does not share with us what she wears around the house, or when she is gardening(would she ever even garden?). In other words, how could she be a complete fashion icon?
A simple comparison to another recent documentary is useful. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour cost $15 million to make, while malaria's film cost $75 million. Swift's film made $120 million in its open weekend, while malaria's film made $7 million. Swift's film had nearly as good of a second weekend, while malaria's film dropped off a cliff on the second week.
On a personal note: I kind of wanted to see the Swift film, just to see what all the hype was about. Obviously, there were no tickets available for the first few weeks, and the crowds seemed overwhelming throughout, so I have never seen it. Opening weekend I saw that two thirds of the malaria seats were sold out. It seemed odd that the worst two thirds were sold out(usually people snap up the best seats first). I stuck my head into the theater mid film, and saw three people actually there. I have yet to see crowds trying to get in to see the film.
But maybe things are different in other parts of the country. Again, does anyone want to say they saw the film?
