Drones vs Missiles

You tried to pretend like you knew all about modern air defense systems and ordinance, but you fell back on your knowledge of World War 1 movies.

The current Shahed 136 drones fly at about the same speed as WWI aircraft; a 100 knots. A relatively low cost Cessna 172 could intercept, fly alongside and a passenger could shoot it down with small arms.

During WWII, the Brits intercepted V-1s and either shot them down or slipped one wing under the V-1 wing and flipped it. The V-1 gyro system wasn't sophisticated enough to right itself. I suspect the Shahed is more capable, but unarmored.

Still, as the link below points out, the strategy is to swarm defenses allowing a few get through to their targets. Due to modern tech, this isn't like the V-1s or even V-2s. They are accurate enough to be flown into a designated building or even a window.

Key Points
  • Iran used low-cost Shahed-136 drones to overwhelm Gulf air defenses after U.S.-backed airstrikes.
  • The drones are cheap and easy to produce, while interceptors can cost millions.
  • Russia’s wartime use in Ukraine helped prove the drones’ battlefield effectiveness.
....Analysts say the key to their effectiveness lies in the numbers. The drones are relatively cheap and easy to mass-produce, especially compared to the sophisticated systems used to defend against them.

Those factors make the drone ideal for swarming and overburdening aerial defenses, with each drone intercepted also representing a more valuable defense asset expended.

“The Shahed‑136, among other unmanned aerial systems, has allowed states like Russia and Iran a cheap way to impose disproportionate costs,” said Patrycja Bazylczyk, analyst with the Missile Defense Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC.

I've heard stories of Ukrainians flying around in slow-moving prop planes and crop dusters with shotguns trying to shoot drones out of the sky.

What I haven't heard is whether this has been demonstrably successful, or whether it's is rarely successful and generally ineffective.

I suspect if this curious aerial dogfighting technique had been wildly successful we would have heard more about it.

Yeah, that's it, lol. Still having trouble dealing with the fact that you were duped again? You remember, 'only missiles can shoot down drones' lmfao. I understand why you can't let it go. It's very embarrassing when your ignorance is on display for everyone to see. I'll just keep pasting in this reply to make sure everyone remembers what a dumb bitch you are.

Oh, I'm also going to start doing all of you libtards a service I've only been giving Lurchy so far. A simple message of love at the end of each reply. I think if you read it enough, it might help in the long run. You can thank me later.

Always remember Trump loves you.

I like your moxie.

are you aware of the military classification system on intelligence and tech?

yes.

cypress is dumb AF, and unwilling to budge an inch from his willful stupidity.

he seems to not know about the concept of military classification either.
