Belligerent steward a hero?

After graduating from High School and moving to AZ, I had trouble getting a job; so I enrolled in the local Job Corp, for training and help.

When I graduated; I started working for an Electronics firm, as a mechanical assembler.

I had been working there for 7 years, when my vehicle had a problme one Monday morning.
I called work, explained the situation, and told them I would call them on Wednesday, after I had torn everything apart and found out what the problem was.
We had a policy of having to call in at least every 3 days, if you were calling off.

Got home late on Monday, spent Tuesday tearing things apart, and called them on Wednesday. I told them that I would be gone the rest of the week; because I wasn't going to be able to get the parts I needed, until Friday.
I said I would come in on Friday, get my check, pick up the parts, and fix my vehicle over the weekend.
They asked me how I was going to document the time off. I told them to put it against my vacation time; because I had 6 weeks of vacation coming.

I borrowed my sister-in-law's car on Friday and drove into work.
When I went in to pick up my check, the HR person said they had my termination papers typed up.

Now, I think they were trying to intimidate me; because I knew they had no reason, that fell within policy, to fire me.
My Supervisor was in the hospital and the guy we had temporarily over us, didn't like me.
For some reason he kept equating his son's behavior to me and I think it was because we were about the same age and his kid was giving him problems.

Anyway, here's what happened.

I told the HR person to get fucked and told him I was going to get my tools, since they already had my termination papers filled out.
He then started out with: "Wait a minute, just wait a minute", like he wanted to talk about this.
I told him to get fucked, again, and started back towards where my tool box was.
He then switched up to: "You can't go back there, with someone being with you".
I again told him to fuck off and that if he wanted someone with me, then he better send them to catch up with me.

Went back and got my tools. While I was getting them; a Supervisor that I got along with really well showed up and helped me.
He walked out with me and told me that he felt the company had just fucked up, wished me well, shook my hand, and I left.

I had another job, closer to home and for more money, by the next Wednesday.

The funny part was, not only did the Company pay me for the week I was off; but I got all 6 weeks of my vacation time and 4 weeks severance pay.
I also found out that they had to hire two people to do the work I was doing and had to farm out some of the more precise assemblies.

I never did talk to anyone there again; but I think I got the check I did, because they knew they fucked up and didn't want to lose their asses by being sued.
I also think that if I had apologized for taking off and groveled for my job, that I would of still had the job; because they were trying to throw a scare in me, but they didn't think it through very well.

There really is no reason for you to project your proclivities, publically; but if you find it really necessary, go right ahead.

No where in your presentation did you state that the person in question made a movement towards your father's face.
All you mentioned was that he flipped your father the bird.

Are you also suggesting that your father would lie, to avoid being held accountable?? :palm:
How is a flip not a movement?

About 7 years is the limit I think for any job before they start taking advantage of you. That was obviously true because you got better pay elsewhere. The longest I've worked anywhere was six and by the time I long knew exactly who was on my side and who wasn't, and it became more of a game on how far to push the assholes just to piss them off.

You seem to have overlooked the entire comment.

"No where in your presentation did you state that the person in question made a movement towards your father's face.

"

You also appear to be avoiding my question.

"Are you also suggesting that your father would lie, to avoid being held accountable??"

he doesn't have to work there.

The media is backing him because he's the corporate proxy. My usual experience is the stewardesses and steward-homos are the rudest people on earth. But of course, to make the corporate paymasters happy the media will villify the passenger who didn't apologize to some nelly-sterical poof.

Hmmmm....I'd say you're putting way too much thought into this.

The stressed-out employee flipping out, grabbing a beer and jumping off the plane is just plain freaking hilarious. Its too good, its like a caricature.

Unless you actually fell for the made-up "climate gate" nonsense, not everything in life is a actually corporate or scientific conspiracy.

The company finally folded, was taken over by another Electronics firm, and the original founders started another company.
They were headed down hill, when I left.
They were trying to branch out, into to many different fields, and weren't doing very well in any of them.

I've always found it amazing that its usually the lowly employees who can see the writing on the wall while the admin types walk right off the edge of a cliff...

I remember when my company had a big layoff. We could see the slowdown months before they stopped hiring new people.

I avoid you question because I reject the premise. :pke:
