Did Israel miscalculate in launching the war on Iran? Was Trump duped into going along with Israel's plan?

Did Israel miscalculate in launching the war on Iran?

In recent days, alongside continued claims of successes in this war, a new tone is emerging in Israel’s media, piercing the Israeli sense of invincibility — the first hints of a narrative of defeat.

Writing in Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper on March 25, Yossi Yehoshua detailed tensions between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad chief David Barnea regarding the failure of plans to collapse the Iranian regime.

Three days earlier, The New York Times had reported that in January, Barnea presented US officials with a plan to induce a successful insurrection after regime decapitation was carried out. The Mossad chief would not have taken such messages to Washington without the approval of his prime minister.

The sense of crisis became more palpable when Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir warned the security cabinet that the military could “collapse in on itself”, particularly due to manpower shortages.

When the political and security echelons begin playing the blame game in the midst of a war, it is never a good sign. This is not where Israel anticipated the conversation would be one month after launching a joint attack with the United States against Iran.

When the war began, the prevailing sense in Israel was one of euphoria. Senior Israeli officials hailed the “unprecedented” and “historic” coordination with the US, including two meetings and 15 phone calls between Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump in the preceding two months.

uncomfortable questions are increasingly starting to percolate: are some of Israel’s assumptions about what could be achieved in a war involving the US being upended? Can Iran’s “mosaic” strategy not only survive, but deliver greater endurance and impose significant costs?

Ask GUNO?

Ask GUNO?
The poster with the absolute, hands-down worst judgement on Trump's War is you.
On March 3rd you predicted the regime would quickly collapse, and era of freedom would be ushered in, and Iranians would be erecting huge statutes of Trump.

Iran will get new leadership and have Freedom! They most likely will erect huge statues to POTUS Trump for bringing them the first real freedom they have had in over 46 years! This has a real chance to end well for all involved and who could possibly be against that?!

Yep....sure did. I will also be proven 100% correct and will happily let you know that as much as possible. What your post has to do with GUNO besides you not wanting to touch THAT subject with a ten foot pole I have no idea,...but...

I will also be proven 100% correct!
It's a cop out to holler that at some unspecified point, sometime in the unspecified future, the hardline Iranian regime will be no more.

That's not a prediction.
Someday Putin will be gone to.

On March 3rd you were cocky, confident, and quite sure that the hardline regime was right on the verge of collapse, that it was imminent that an era of freedom was beginning in Iran, and Trump would be so widely loved in Iran they would be erecting massive statues of him.🤣

Yep,...and THAT will be exactly what happens. Much to the dismay of the anti freedom anti American Left. And yes.......you can count on the fact that you're noses will be rubbed in it daily.

Seems maybe Israel did, and though "miscalculate" is the wrong word for someone who acts on his urges, did Trump make a similar mistake?

Trump has painted himself into a corner.

This is yet another Afghanistan. Only Iran has a lot more modern weapons, a well-trained and equipped army and air force, and the will to stand up to two common enemies -- us and Israel. Anyone stupid enough and ignorant of human nature to think that bombing them was going to get the population to overthrow their own familiar govt. is an idiot and a MAGAT. Oops, that's redundant.

Yes, I think Israel, like Trump himself, let a very bad genie out of the bottle by directly attacking Iran.

Tertia Optio was working and now both Donnie and Bibi have fucked it up.

One thing for sure.............It will absolutely not be forgotten how a lot of the left cheered against our military . How disgraceful. I wouldn't want to be the left in the coming year that's for sure. It is one thing to be against the direct intervention in Iran and quite another to openly CHEER the enemy. Much of it done the cowardly way,...........lying through OMISSION. With every military victory the left sat silent,...never uttering a peep,....b it every little loss no matter how small was highlighted as much as humanly possible. Not only does it make you look like the POS you are but it also makes you look ridiculous.

They have no air force anymore, or navy, or air defenses which is why we are flying AT WILL over Iran as we speak.

A slight disagreement. This is more like Iraq: an unnecessary war that will turn into a quagmire and lots of dead Americans.

Afghanistan was fine until GW diverted assets away from it to Iraq when the job was only partially finished. In short, GW created a two-front war which led to our defeat in Afghanistan and very limited and costly success in Iraq.

Students of history know that opening a second front is always a bad fucking idea.
Trump has painted himself into a corner.
Agreed.

History will record that Trump should have left the Obama-NATO nuclear agreement on Iran in place, and just worked to ensure it's enforcement, and to keep IAEA inspectors in the country.

Good point. I saw no evidence there was a unified and well armed Iranian opposition ready to rise up and take power.

MAGA morons were deluding themselves that regime change and glorious victory could be quickly achieved from the air.

Iran was perfectly willing to take a body blow, fight for eight years, and sacrifice a million casualties to endure against the aggressor Saddam Hussein.
