Going to be a real blast pulling back up these lefty threads now that IRAN AND CHINA have BENT THE KNEE! Good times !

Seems to be working to me...

How does anyone know who is blocking who?

1) Is there actually a U.S. blockade?

Yes โ€” in a limited, defined sense.

  • The U.S. began a naval blockade targeting ships entering/exiting Iranian ports and oil exports via the Strait of Hormuz region in April 2026.
  • It is being enforced with interceptions, warnings, and some seizures.
  • The stated goal is to disrupt Iranian seaborne trade and pressure negotiations.

So the premise โ€œa U.S. blockade existsโ€ is true.

2) Is it โ€œworkingโ€?

โœ” In a narrow operational sense: partially yes

Evidence suggests:

  • Dozens of ships have been turned back or deterred
  • Some Iranian-linked oil shipments have stopped or rerouted
  • U.S. forces report reduced export flows through Iranian ports

So:

It is having real disruption effects on maritime traffic

โš ๏ธ But it is NOT a complete shutdown

Other reporting shows:

  • Some vessels still bypass or evade enforcement (spoofing, rerouting, โ€œshadow fleetโ€ tactics)
  • Analysts say the success rate is mixed and difficult to measure
  • Even pro-blockade sources acknowledge it is selective, not absolute

So:

It is not a total or airtight blockade

3) The key issue: โ€œworkingโ€ is a political word here

Different groups mean different things:

If โ€œworkingโ€ = some disruption achieved

โ†’ Yes, it is working

If โ€œworkingโ€ = fully stopping Iranian exports

โ†’ No, it is not fully working

If โ€œworkingโ€ = forcing political surrender

โ†’ Not clear / too early / unproven

4) Why there is disagreement

The confusion comes from 3 things:

1. Different definitions of โ€œblockadeโ€

  • Military definition = targeting specific flows (ports, sanctioned cargo)
  • Public perception = โ€œnothing gets throughโ€

2. Propaganda on both sides

  • U.S. statements emphasize success rates
  • Critics emphasize evasion and loopholes

3. Measurement difficulty

  • Shipping data can be spoofed or obscured
  • โ€œShadow fleetโ€ oil transfers are hard to track

Bottom line

  • โœ” The blockade exists and is actively enforced
  • โœ” It is partially effective at disrupting Iranian shipping
  • โŒ It is not a complete shutdown of maritime trade
  • โŒ โ€œFully workingโ€ depends heavily on political interpretation, not a settled fact
