It is traditional for the President to attend. You are simply dodging the question, and in effect saying that Trump and future presidents should never go out in public unless they have overwhelming levels of security. A ballroom at the White House simplifies security while allowing large events to be held in a proper style and manner.

The event took place on another floor, so he would have had to go up or down a flight of stairs.

There was ZERO POSSIBILITY that he'd have gotten all the way to the event.

This is NOT a valid excuse for building a tacky, white trashy looking ballroom at the WH.

The guy wouldn't have made it onto the White House grounds. A ballroom at the White House for larger events makes absolute sense. No more tents for one. How tasteless is the President, any President, of the US being forced to hold a national or international event at the White House in what amounts to circus tents?
