A woman has a right to choose and practice her own religion. You guys are not concerned about women. If you were then you would be doing something about the many fundamentalist Christian women who allow themselves to be mistreated. You just hate this particular religion.

There should be plenty of safeguards. In fact, I don't see why they should not be able to appeal if they feel the ruling is unfair. But if they want to abide by sharia, be seen in public with AHZ or engage in some perverted sex life, absent of of oral, that is their choice. Weird and strange as those choices may be, women have the right to make them.

This is not about a woman choosing; though having been born into a faith of subjugation it stretches the limits of imagination to think she ever really has been free to choose.

This about the US allowing a contrary set of civil law into our system of justice! To allow laws that discriminate against women is to make a mockery of our system...

It is about the choice of women and men to practice their religion. The problems with your imagination are your own. But you don't need imagination because it is a fact, that many women choose such lives. If this is such a concern for you then why aren't you out rescuing women in long existing American communities where similar principles are observed?

Allowing them a sharia arbitration would not introduce their laws into our system anymore than Beth Din does for Jewish laws. No one would be subject to the laws unless they chose to be.

Beth din is NOT contrary to US law!!! I knew you thought you had a gimmie!

Beth din operates in accordance to US civil law. Beth din courts use actual attorneys and judges trained in US law. Beth din does not consider a womans testimonty as only half that of a man!

Sharia' law uses only their Imam who considers only sharia'; women are are not seen as equal when rendering their decisions. Sharia' has nothing whatsoever to do with any governance but their own.

Christianity doesn't prevent women from becoming ministers, Dick. In the Catholic Church the only thing a woman can't do is become a Priest, but a man can't become a Nun. These job restrictions doesn't prevent them from being equal.

Women have the right to control their bodies, Dick. They can choose not to have sex out of wedlock.

When a priest and a nun disagree, the priest wins.

Can a nun become Pope? Who is the LEADER of the Catholic Church? The POPE....

Can a Nun be a Cardnal? Who is in charge of nuns in his district? The Cadnal.

Can a num be a priest? Who is in charge of individual churches in a district? The priest.

Now, what priests do nuns have authority over?

It was legally arbitrated, submitted to a US court for approval- rejected, appealed to another US court and the original Beth Din judgment found legally sound! Check out how US law was used to consider the merits. More importantly though it has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the question at hand regarding shariah' law!!!
