But it's still true that the "working together to make production efficient" is accomplished under the threat of our military might and our subsequent control of international financial institutions.
LMAO.... no, it is not. We do not threaten China, Indonesia, India etc... with military might in order for them to produce our goods (China/Indonesia) or services (India). They do it because it is a benefit to them. To THEM they are high paying jobs that can help their middle classes grow. The US also knows that by increasing the middle classes elsewhere, it creates more consumers for our end products.
You said people needed simply to retrain to avoid having their jobs outsourced. But the fact is that no amount of expertise will save anyone from globalization's race to the bottom.
Any job that HAS to stay here: ie.... building out infrastructure, homes, office buildings etc.... those are jobs that the people who don't want higher education can retrain into.
What infrastructure buildout?
The infrastructure is in tatters.... there are countless jobs waiting to be done.
And what about the millions of degreed white collar workers who's jobs are being sent overseas in droves, simply because the cost of living and living standards are less overseas? Scientists and IT professionals are losing their futures. That's not mindless work. They're already highly trained.
Please show me where millions of Scientists and IT have been outsourced. Meaning... show me where SCIENTISTS are actually looking for work in the US and can't find. As for IT... a lot of people went into that sector in the late 90's and we had to IMPORT a lot of tech people to keep up with demand. After Y2K was past, many of those jobs were gone.
That said, I do agree many jobs are going to be competitive on the world market. AS THEY SHOULD BE.
Since the latest bubble popped, the real deterioration of our economy is revealed. There's more than just UNCERTAINTY going on here, you jackass.
Yes, I am aware there is more involved, I have highlighted some of the major problems in previous threads.
Lives are being ruined. Analysts are talking about a NEW NORMAL. That means we're just supposed to accept a deterioration in our standard of living.
No, I do not accept it, which is why I rail on the problems we face. But the problems are not due to globalization. It is due to the far too cozy relationship between wall street and DC.
What does the new normal mean to you?
The new normal is that we will continue having to pay for the sins of wall street banks and DC politicians until we revolt and toss them all out of office.
I blame american leadership for conducting trade policy in an idiotic fashion which destroys the lives of a majority to enrichen multinational corporate profits.
I blame the leadership as well. But it isn't the trade policy that is destroying this country. It is the fiscal/monetary policy and the lack of regulation in key areas of the market.
Borders are not arbitrary and meaningless. They demarcate areas of property and resources specifically for use by citizens of the governing nation. In fact, the PRIMARY function of a government is to defend the borders on behalf of the citizenry. People died defending these borders. And they fought presuming they were securing these lands for their progeny, not for the people of the world. You insult anyone who died defending this nation with your assertion.
Now you are just becoming overly hyperbolic. Borders ARE arbitrary you twit. Just look at the countries of the middle east and the arbitrary nature in which they were created after the fall of the Ottoman empire. Our borders arbitrarily changed as we 'purchased' land. I have never stated we shouldn't defend our borders or fight to be the best. I simply think that to be our best we have to produce at the highest capacity that we can. If that means shipping off jobs that can be done more efficiently elsewhere, THAT helps us.
You have proven you are a globalist, a traitor to americans. The purpose of government is enrich the lives of its citizens FIRST, above the needs of the CITIZENS OF THE WORLD. Your radicalized globalist view of governance is one in which government is intended to suppress it's own citizenry in some kind of idealized NEW WORLD ORDER. That is a perversion of governance.
You are a traitor.
No one suggested that our government SUPPRESS the citizens of the US moron. Not in any way shape or form.
