He's definitely no shoe-in for Mayor though! I think this whole thing stinks of a "here's an opportunity to get rid of Rahm without looking like we wanted to get rid of him". His position as Chief of Staff was much more powerful and influential then his maybe chance of being Chicago's mayor.

Rahm Emmanuel was the one who was urging the white house to surrender to conservatives on healthcare. He's the conservatives best friend. Good riddance.
