As I read the puerile 'thoughts' of the uneducated Americans here, I am amused by their arrogance.

They are willing to invade weaker nations to 'liberate' them with 'democracy', yet most of the 'freedom lovers' do not even exercise this supposedly 'precious right' they seek to force on others.

Americans spend more on education than most other nations, yet their academic ranking wordlwide is laughable.

Most American children are functionally illiterate after tens of thousands of dollars and many years are squandered in a futile effort to overcome their native laziness.

Many adults, even those with supposed university degrees, speak only one language, and are uncompetitive in the global marketplace.

The vaunted USA military has a shameful record of defeat, being unable to overcome even token resistance by disorganized tribesmen and religious fanatics.

Yes, America is ripe for harvest, and China holds the mortgage.

I now anticipate a volley of racist obscenities and half-witted sexual innuendoes with great amusement.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought I might take an opposing view. Sometimes the things you say are equally offensive as some of the worst garbage spewed onto this board by brainless yanks for whom the world either does not exist at all or is vastly inferior to the reddest neck they can serve up.
On this occasion I have to say you are

RIGHT.

However the success that is being enjoyed by China and the Chinese is sustained by a government that manages very well. Previous governments have not. Mr. Hu cannot live forever. Even the best must stand aside - look at Zhu rong ji, surely one of the great modern Chinese intellects.

The problem with America is that only half of them are stupid, but that half is backed by the corruption of big business and is out to destroy the best hope the country has had in many years of taking back the high ground.
Failure of the democratic government will have nothing to do with democratic policies but everything to do with low intellect, mis-educated right wing dupes for whose palette consists solely of black and white with nothing in between.

A system that spends so much money and so much time to elect and re-elect can never never compete with a government where time in office is not an issue.
 
China's domination as a global power is pretty much assured by it's population. Even if it were only to rise to medium incomes it would easily dominate America and Europe combined. If it eventually rises to American levels of wealth, yeah. The trend lines don't exactly point to an American decline, but to America being pushed out of the way by larger, inevitable forces in this century. And it's difficult to see how it can be any other way.

This isn't exactly praise to the Chinese government. The Chinese could act stupidly retarded and it would still pretty much turn out the same way.

How many native Americans were killed to give you the society you wanted? How many slaves were whipped, raped and starved?
Yes, in retrospect, as with Mao, not the best start for any nation. But you are what you are, the Chinese are what they are and, at present, they seem to be winning.

Or the whole of China could be prosperous like Taiwan right now if the Nationalists had won. But, hell, give any random trash heap the free market and 30 years and it can be relatively prosperous.

Mao had his own share of bloody violent murders, but the vast majority of the people who died did so because of sheer stupidity. Just read the account of the great leap forward and you're going to get a goddamn bruise on your forehead.

I am well aware of the Great Leap Forward, of the various five year plans, of the original hopes and ambitions and how they went 'a little awry'! I am also very aware of the developments in the country since my first visit in 1985 when the few cars that existed drove on side lights to conserve battery power!!! Sure ain't like that now.

1. I doubt there's going to be any revolution in China any time soon.

2. If there were it really doesn't undermine my general point. If you would notice, it wasn't an appraisal of the policies of the current government of China in particular. It's just an acknowledgement of the fact that we're almost certainly going to get pushed out of the way.

1. The nations of the world will not permit china to keep devaluing it's currency.
They will force it to pick up it's share of consumption and let the people rise.

2. When the people rise, the totalitarians will be pushed out of the way.

Bottom line, the totalitarian structure of china is cracking, and that totalitarian structure and willingness to enslave is it's quickly evaporating comparative advantage. Bye bye china's future.
