Let me channel a warmer, since they appear to be unwilling to read it, I'll pretend that I haven't looked.

"I post about scientists from the International Global Warming Is Real Initiative, IGWIRI is so much more credible because it has so many more climatologists than whatever you have linked to! There is this thing called consensus that makes everything they believe real! Back when the consensus was that the earth was flat, they were right then because consensus means "real" in science-speak."

Still nothing? Pshaw. If only the warmers respected people with different conclusions. Science could benefit in the future if the issue was hammered out instead of the clinging to a theory that was validated by using models which contained assumptions about the theory itself. It's a tough job. Everyone understands that. We demand accurate and testable results without defensive reactions to legitimate criticisms. We demand open source models and data for this public endeavor. As part of the body called upon to fund this boondoggle, I feel it's our collective right to demand conclusions that conform to the rules of science and statistics.

I was watching a movie the other night on TCM, it was about Columbus and his campaign to find an "eastern passage" by sailing west. In one scene, he is trying to convince a council of dignitaries to fund his voyage, and they were really grilling him about his hypothesis. The part that made me laugh the most, was this one cat who 'entertained' his theory might be correct, that the Earth might actually be a sphere, and not flat, but... he so confidently articulated, even if that were the case, how would Columbus ever return once he reached the other side? For water, he said, does not flow 'uphill'! It made me think of the Warmers, and how it doesn't really matter what evidence you present or how soundly you debunk their theories, they are always going to find some idiocy to hang their beliefs on, because they really do believe this shit!

I'm not sure why the warmers have nothing to say here. Could it be that they don't really get the point of this link? I think so. where's mott to tell me I'm clueless?

I saw a link to another person's take on the story who made the claim that this meant CO2 was more to blame for warming.

The study concluded that solar minima were responsible for delivering more infrared rays which thusly warmed more than convetional projections of solar influence, thereby reducing the range into which CO2 can be determined to have caused the warming during periods of minimal solar influence. The inverse is that periods of great solar influence must be revised to reflect the true values of both solar and CO2 forcing and models tuned accordingly. You would think scientists would be fascinated by the news, but you can tell Gavin is threatened

I have almost tired of this subject. In the 70's the world was getting colder, we waited and then it got warmer, cooling to the point of ice age was no longer a worry so we decided we were going to get warmer, the seas would rise because all the ice would melt and our coastal cities would be flooded. I am just going to wait til 2040 and then come back here and mock the warmers.

i totally called the mini ice age

in all seriousness....of course the climate is changing....hence why the global "warming" logo has fallen by the way side....

the question is....how much is man responsible for the change? there was a warming and a cooling about 500 years ago...what influence did man have then?

The discussion should not be about who has what evidence of global warming, global cooling or global staying roughly as it is, but about husbandry. How well we look after this planet and the creatures that inhabit it.
Maybe man is making it warmer, I know that her indoors says I make her warmer.....! maybe its due to aliens or fridges or both - the world, not 'er indoors!
It is ridiculous to take the view of some here, the 'Ya-boo, it ain't happenin' ' crowd. You and I and they need to just engage our brains and care for the world as we care for our own... cos the world IS our own.
Stop polluting, stop killing, stop being obscenely obese, stop being jealous of other people - the last two refer to Americans more than anyone else - and stop wanting things you dont need and can't afford.

How about stop wanting to take wealth from those who have, and give it to those who don't? How about stop acting like corporations and capitalism are evil entities operating of their own volition to the detriment of humans? How about stop taking more and more of our freedoms and turning them over to the state? How about getting the government the hell out of every aspect of our lives? How about stop allowing socialist Marxist communists to indoctrinate our children in public schools? If the Earth is getting warmer due to man, it is from the steam coming out of my ears and the hot air coming out of politicians mouths. If you're worried about CO2... PLANT A FUCKING TREE!

You have socialist Marxist communists teaching your children in America? Bloody hell, Trixie, they don't even have them in China. It is no wonder you are angry.
Stop trying to bite your ear when I speak to you.

The thing for me about global warming is the proposed solutions are good practices whether or not they are the cause. Less pollution. Less destruction of rain forest. Less waste of natural resources, etc.

I am not a climatologist, and I don't claim to be, but what is the major significance of this? From reading the article it appears that the 'sun activity' crowd would have angst.

Actually, you are not correct. The proposed "solutions" for so-called man-made global warming, involve reduction in CO2 emissions. CO2 is what makes rain forests flourish, it is not a "pollutant" as the EPA has recently proclaimed it to be, for sake of regulation. I can't speak for all those opposed to the AGW agenda, but most of the ones I have talked to, are not opposed to cleaning up toxins and conserving natural resources. This is yet another myth the Warmers have concocted, in order to brainwash you with their propaganda. You feel like you're doing something to help the environment, when in actuality, you're not. You are supporting a socialist plan to redistribute wealth, which is right up your alley, but let's at least be honest about what is going on, this is not something that is "helping" the environment.
