.Authorities thwart terrorist attacks aimed at US

WASHINGTON – Authorities on three continents thwarted multiple terrorist attacks aimed at the United States Friday, seizing two explosive packages addressed to Chicago-area synagogues and packed aboard cargo jets from Yemen. Parts of the plot might remain undetected, President Barack Obama's counterterror chief warned.

Obama called the coordinated attacks a "credible terrorist threat" amid worldwide fears that al-Qaida was launching a major new campaign of assaults.

"The United States is not assuming that the attacks were disrupted and is remaining vigilant," Obama adviser John Brennan said at the White House.

when this happened under bush, the dems always cried that he was fear mongering....especially when it coincided so closely to elections....

You're confused, as usual. When actual terrorist threats occurred under Bush, no one accused him of "fear mongering." When we'd get a "heightened terrorist alert" on their weird color scale right before an election, with no facts at all - yeah, he was accused of that then.

I'll admit to not spending much time watching the news, on account of me already hating the world, but from everything I did hear while the story developed, every package seized was not dangerous, only suspicious.
 
Oh, I forgot - when Cheney told Americans that there was an excellent chance of a "devastating attack" if Democrats were elected, that was fearmongering, as well....

What a predictable hack yawner. And like I said - no one complained about actual INCIDENTS. People complained about the vague, non-specific warnings, which you know.

False terror alerts and changing the dumbass color-coded threat level based on non-specific information regarding potential attacks on non-specific targets and intercepting explosive devices in transit to the United States are vastly different things. One is bullshit, while the other is quite real.

Not too many voters have confidence Obama even knows what a terrorist is~ Any credible threat is all the more reason to vote against dems.
 
I can't claim to be a hot shot political strategist. However, i would have thought stoking up fear of a terrorist incident for electoral gain would only be an option if you were running a campaign promoting, for example, a 'war on terror' whilst painting your opposition as weak on national security.
