Palin made the difference in the Senate...

She ensured that rabid radicals like Angle, O'Donnel and someone in Alaska got the Republican nominations.

IN Alaska a write in canidate, strongly opposed by Palin seems to have won!
 
Jarod, I just think that it means that if you are too far right.....or left, you're going to have a hard time in this country. Yes, I think the dems can thank Palin for retaining the Senate but I also think it was something a lot of folks need to see to believe. I also noticed that most of the dems that lost house races last night, even some moderate dems, lost them because they went with Pelosi on TARP and healthcare. The message, at least to me is, politics is still local and if you are a representative you need to be hearing what your constituents back home are saying. I think a lot of democrats sacrificed thier seats for the healthcare vote in particular.

Bohner went with Pelosi (and Bush) on Tarp and he is now speaker of the House.

I heard this too Water...they didn't make a difference either way. I still think a campaigning Castle might have won but we'll never know.

Castle was ahead by double digits. It would've basically been a certainty. Fivethirtyeight had it rated at 100% from the time Boe Biden announced that he wasn't running.

Gene Taylor (20 year incumbent from my district) voted against TARP and healthcare and lost. He basically voted with his district 100% of the time. He was replaced by a generic, albeit mentally unstable, Republican who, in all likelihood, would've voted for TARP. The Republican did have a lot of money behind him. He doubled Gene Taylors fundraising. From where? I don't know. You can thank the supreme court for that.

Like I said before, ironically the moderates who voted against the big stuff were most likely to be in the marginal districts where they'd lose if the Democrats took a hit in popularity.

So what? He was the problem. Now Coons can have a shot. Hope he does a good job.

You must actually think that money buys votes....
Did you vote the candidates that spent the most money?
Obviously not, yet you think everyone else did...

Money buys advertising and name recognition...a 20 year incumbent doesn't or shouldn't need that ....he or she already has a 20 year old record that voters certainly should be aware of....if it sucks, you lose.

Sarah Palin endorsed a lot of people....
MORE of them got elected than not....so suck on that fact for awhile.

Sarah HATES the Murkowski's this was a real in your face, baby! Sarah even came to Alaska to help Joe, special! even after he wouldn't say what he really thought of her as a presidential possibility and Todd had to send him a very harsh email to remind him who had his back and made him the man he is in politics! Thanks, Sarah!
