Palin made the difference in the Senate...

She ensured that rabid radicals like Angle, O'Donnel and someone in Alaska got the Republican nominations.

IN Alaska a write in canidate, strongly opposed by Palin seems to have won!

Yes, a write-in who will "absolutely caucus with the Republicans."

Sorry to burst your bubble.

there is only one reason the Republicans didn't take the Senate this year.....less than half of the senate seats were up for election......

Unless we remind her who got her to Washington and it was the other guys!

really?....you think she would win, if she does, because Democrats voted for her instead of for the Democrat?......that would be a bit foolish of them wouldn't it?

I'm just glad that they'll still have a senator that caucuses with republicans. Even if the Ds thought they were being cute by voting for her.

Not cute at all, it is a matter of survival for some factions of our culture, I tend to think of others when voting and not just myself as you suggest in your definition of a populist.

Change "me" to "us" and it is the same. Even if you change it to "them" it is still the same. IMO, it is inappropriate to use the force of government in that way. From what I am getting here, your form of "populism" is to use government as a tool to ensure that others pay their "fair share" in order to give things to those who do not have...

To protect people against the powerful, well, I guess that is why we disagree on politics.

Protecting people from the powerful is an excellent use of government. The second question I posted before the use of government was what? I think if you re-read you will find I approve of that. However, I don't think giving things to people is a form of "protection".

Proper sewage is not a form of protection?

1. If "the powerful" are using the sewage as a weapon then it is.
2. Again, the second question I posted that should be asked before we use government power was what?

Rana, you clearly didn't read what I posted and seem to have a fundamental disconnect with what I said against your version of what you wanted to hear.

is this s test.

well, you try living in a city without sewage and tell me how you feel...I am sure the government helped CO with their water and sewage. To me cleanliness is a form of protection from disease and isn't that role of the government, or do you think they shouldn't be involved in disease control? and remember these are Alaskan Natives!

I don't know, I guess I will have to go look, is this a test, do I have to answer all of your questions?

Again, you didn't read. You have made silly assumptions about what I believe rather than just reading what I wrote.

Oh, and Rana. Our "sewage" is supplied by ourselves, with regulations to ensure I don't turn my sewage into something damaging to others. (direct victim there).

I have a well, I paid to have it drilled and we use a septic system we paid to install...

Well, Damo, just feel really smug that I give you that feeling of superiority, I guess I am good for people in that way on here. It is sometimes hard to convey our meanings without going into a Dixie style post, so I will just say that our ideas of the role of government is not on the same page as yours and our ideas of protection aren't the same, either. Now, jump into your smugglie and watch the world go by...
