New Senate Will Have No African-Americans

Texas CD 30 had two African Americans running. Incumbent Eddie Berniece Johnson, known ethically challenged democrat, and Pastor Stephen Brodan an unknown republican African American. Who did that district vote for? the ethically challenged democrat. a democrat who got caught handing out scholarship money to family and friends instead of her constituents. that speaks volumes about the stupidity of her constituency.
Either that or they are racist.

You really have to make some pretty dramatic cuts before you're in the territory where you can start talking about lowering taxes. Are Republicans going to take the hit necessary to cut that much? Fuck no. Much easier to lower taxes and pretend you'll do something about spending later. I'm starving the beast! This conveniently means that I don't have to come up with any plan for cuts at the present moment!
You've hit the nail right on the head dude. It is because of this grotesquely irresponsible behavior and their military adventurism that I am no longer Repelican.

If the GOP wants to hold onto power they better damn drastically cut the budget.
Agreed. Where you going to start? By how much? Would it be reasonable to suggest we need to cut spending by 500 billion? Since the military is the most bloated government program of them all by far and away lets start there first. How much are you willing to cut defense?

Gates has already suggested cuts, and he should be taken up on his offer. As for the remainder, I've suggested 5% overall for every year that we are in power, focus on programs that are not constitutionally mandated.

I also think the Presidents budget should be cut in half immediately. Sell off his fleet of 747s and buy him two Lear jets.

Really?
How do you vote for them if they don't run?
How would you even know about them if they ran and didn't win because liberal wouldn't vote for them them...
Why are you a pinhead?

Heres a few Republican Afr. Amer. ....and I could name dozens more but why should I....?

Let's revisit the thread.

Post #2 - (Me) Your party has a terrible record when it comes to putting African-Americans into Congress.

Martin Luther King, Jr. - not a politician
Ryan Frazier - city council, not Congress
Alan Keys - never elected
Wallace Jefferson - judge appointed not elected
E. Frederic Morrow - not a politician
Colin Powell - cabinet member appointed, not elected
Conny Rice - cabinet member appointed, not elected
Jackie Robinson - not a politician
Clarence Thomas - judge appointed not elected

Post #28 - (Me) "In the post-Reconstruction era there's been ONE black senator and FIVE black congressmen. It's just ludicrous to claim "we can't vote for them because they won't run". If they *wouldn't* run as repubs it's because they were getting no support from that party."

Jeremiah Haralson - reconstruction, not post
John Langston - reconstruction, not post
Jefferson Long - reconstruction, not post
John Lynch - reconstruction, not post
Charles Nash - reconstruction, not post

Note that during Reconstruction, Republicans represented the party of Abraham Lincoln and of emancipation. The Southern Democrats represented the party of planters, slavery and secession.

So you get points for two people on the list:

His niece, Alveda King
Paul Scott

The historical record speaks for itself. Carry on.

Will that be the military? Or Medicare and Medicaid? Or maybe just stop paying social security all at once? That would balance the budget. You still wouldn't be able to cut taxes without going into a deficit again.

The original post and my posts were about U.S. Congress, not state and local offices.

As I stated previously, yes that includes the military. We are obligated to pay SS costs, so I suggest cutting programs that are unnecessary as well as not mandated, like the EPA and the Dept. of Education. If we adopt a flat tax we can reduce the IRS budget by half the first year and by half again the year after. Corporate taxes should be cut in half twice as well.

By promising an overall reduction of 5% per year for and an overall reduction in taxes of 2.5% per year, and delivering on those promises, the GOP will boost confidence of business to expand and create jobs that will make your ugly little head spin.
