Those missiles aren't shit. The SK has our Aegis system, and we have our own in place as well. That will take care of any missiles. Won't take care of the guns, but there are other work arounds in place.

Most of those guns are probably Russian 155mm and 208mm (or 6 and 8 inches, however you wanna think about it). That gives them a maximum rate of fire of about 7 shells per minute, assuming an expert gun crew. They could only sustain that rate for up to 15 minutes, if I remember correctly. But that's assuming that those gun sites aren't counter batteried out of existence after their 3rd or 4th volley.

Maybe that is America's plan, so it doesn't have to pay them back the billions they owe them. Then Americans can lend them money and collect interest instead(note sarcasm).

In the event of escalation who has the most to lose? The Kims will be oudda there in a taxi second and wouldn't give a toss about the slaves and robots who remain. South Korea and the US, however, cannot escape and have far, far more to lose. My suggestion would be that the yank navy tootle along the sea border doing nothing then after a day or two go off somewhere for some R&R. Kim wiil pop his clogs soon or, at least, retire and the idiot son will take over. He knows naff all and PRC will guide him and smack his wrist should he throw his toys out of his pram.

Because assassinating random world leaders we don't happen to like is a totally practical policy that will benefit the US in the long term. Let's decide SK's foreign policy for them, and initiate a war that will leave tens of millions of their people dead.

Assassinating random world leaders and financing coups with tax payers money is the norm but some people are untouchable. Just as the CIA + MOB hitman couldn't touch Castro, and they couldn't touch Saddam. Well...so they say. I honestly find that odd.

Ahmadinejad is just a figure head, he doesn't really have any real authority. Khamenei and his band of mullahs are the real power in Iran.
