NEXT: More tax increasing benefit reduction ideas.

When they cut costs they always cut the poor out first.

Ain't that the truth.

Over the years, when it came to helping the poor, governments always said they didn't have the money. Then came the tech bubble. With low unemployment and more people paying taxes governments built up a surplus. Did any of them offer to build housing for the poor? Add a little something extra to the welfare check? So much as send a little extra at Christmas?

It was a lie from the get-go. The money spent on the poor is a pittance of the total budget. It's truly disgusting.

From your viewpoint everyone is 'right wing'... that is what happens when you sit on the far left.... everyone is to your right.

Just like Ditzie... he sits so far on the right... he sees everyone as a left winger or as he puts it... a 'pinhead'. (wonder where he got that one from)

OK, where do you place Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson on your ideological continuum?

Yeah...thats a fact....
If you want to get rich.....rob a poor person.....
If you want to impress a pretty girl, kick her in the teeth.....
If you want to get a date, don't bathe.....
If you want to stay dry, jump in a fuckin' lake....

Just follow the common sense advice of liberals.....

You news or the information you get...

I usually will visit Real Clear Politics (which also links to RC Markets etc...) each weekday. It links to articles from the far left across the spectrum to the far right. I enjoy reading the varying views.... even the ones I disagree with (like Krugman or many Huffpo pieces).

Bloomberg and CNN are the others I tend to frequent the most.

OK, where do you place Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson on your ideological continuum?

I would agree the Bowles is a moderate Dem, left of center. Simpson is more towards the middle of the right (your base Republican if you will). I wouldn't say 'right of center' in the sense that most people who say that mean 'just to the right'. He is neither a far right nor a 'moderate' in my opinion.

Fact of the matter is while we (we as in the working middle class) had zero benefit or gain from that massive spending spree over the past couple of years suddenly its now our responsibility to pay for it? How about raising corp tax rates and tariffs? How about Google doesn't get away with paying zero taxes while Warren buffets secretary is paying 15% of 100K. Its bullshit. While the Corp execs and royal govt employees (yes they are the same category) sit back in cushion jobs dictating our lives we indentured servants are expected to prop up there lifestyles with tax increases.

I am working on a project that is paying people higher wages than anything in the area, and it is funded by some of that massive spending. And the people we hire are certainly not executive types.

Raising corp taxes does nothing but screw over the public. Do you actually think the corporations will accept a lower profit margin because of taxes? Or is it more likely that they will raise the price of goods and services to cover this increase?

Comparing the taxes of one individual with a corporation is nonsense.

The tax system is broken and needs to be fixed. But lets fix the actual problems, not create more.
