"...you want my real opinion, the lame duck is awful. In my opinion it is unconstitutional. The 20th amendment passed in 1933 was meant to eliminate all future lame duck sessions. Congress didn't want to see happen what is happening now.

Consider, we are doing all of the spending the tax bill, a nuclear disarmament treaty, "don't ask, don't tell," they are trying to do amnesty for illegal aliens, all in a couple weeks. In other words, a year's worth of work after the voters spoke at the polls.

So the people spoke, they don't want what is being passed in Congress. We shouldn't be doing this. It is really against the 20th Amendment to the constitution..."

For two years the Party of "No" saw to it that nothing got done at all...IF they were truly determined to shut down the "Liberal Agenda", they could have stamped their feet and held their collective breath and held on for a few more weeks, but they let their guard down and the Democrats took care of business.

In what way is it against the 20th amendment? I'm not sure what you mean.

In what way is it against the 20th amendment? I'm not sure what you mean.

It's what Rep. Bachmann means, not I.

I report, you decide!

Here's what she said to Greta Van Sustern on Dec. 21: "The 20th amendment passed in 1933 was meant to eliminate all future lame duck sessions.

Congress didn't want to see happen what is happening now.

Consider, we are doing all of the spending the tax bill, a nuclear disarmament treaty, "don't ask, don't tell," they are trying to do amnesty for illegal aliens, all in a couple weeks.

She went on to say "...The Tea Party is not Republican or Democrat.

It is really people who want the country to work.

They are practical people and they want the country to work.

...I think the Tea Party was not in favor of the tax compromise primarily because it was not paid for.

When you are looking at two percent cut to the employee share of the payroll, that's an immediate $111 billion deficit blown open in the Social Security trust fund, and that is not good.

That means you have to go to the general treasury to get that money to pay those checks, and so that means instantaneous deficit spending."

At TownHall.com, she said the following on Nov. 3:

"Finally the Democrat’s train of big spending and big government has been stopped in its tracks.

Starting in January the majority can focus on reducing the debt, repealing Obamacare, and restoring limited government.

But in the meantime, a dangerous agenda could be presented by the Democrats in the lame duck session of Congress and Americans must keep a vigilant eye.

Democrats scurried out of Washington in September before addressing the tax cuts scheduled to expire at the end of the year. This has put businesses and families in a difficult position. They don’t know what the financial playing field will look like in 2011 and how much will be owed to Uncle Sam. During the lame duck session the issue will be brought to the House floor. When it is, the existing Republicans must do everything within our power to extend the current tax rates for all Americans.

The Tea Party played an influential role in yesterday’s results but now they must stay visible. Please continue to put the pressure on your representative during the lame duck. Then, at the start of the new Congress in January, remember to hold us accountable to the limited government designed for our great nation by the founding fathers."

Here's the 20th Amendment:

"Section 1. The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.
Section 2. The Congress shall assemble at least once in every year, and such meeting shall begin at noon on the 3d day of January, unless they shall by law appoint a different day.

Section 3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Section 4. The Congress may by law provide for the case of the death of any of the persons from whom the House of Representatives may choose a President whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them, and for the case of the death of any of the persons from whom the Senate may choose a Vice President whenever the right of choice shall have devolved upon them.

Section 5. Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect on the 15th day of October following the ratification of this article.

Section 6. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission."

I don't see what she means by that. I wonder to which section she is referring. Why wouldn't Congress be expected to continue working as long as they are rightfully there?

If a person is leaving a job they are still expected to perform their duties until they leave.
