Anderson Cooper Punched 10 Times In The Head

I'm trying to understand the liberal position here Yurt without dismissing it as pure hypocrisy. If you're in a hospital be your entire life then what do you need all that money for?

And no, thank God, I have never been in a serious accident.

let's use the permanently disabled for life victim, fair enough? or we could go a step further and not only use a disabled for life victim, but a brain damaged victim that is permanently disabled.

who is going to pay for their medical bills for the rest of their life? the husband? the child? the friend? the mother? the father? or the insurance company who insursed the driver or the person who caused the injury?

are you really espousing the view that if you get hit or damaged, through no fault of your own, and you're disabled for life, then tough shit, you're on your own?

According to liberals who advocate a single payer system, it should be the government of course. And lets not forget that the attorney gets, what? 1/3, and he gets to drive home when the trial is over.

I'm just trying to understand the liberal position, that the rich should give their money to those who have little. So I imagine your firm got 1/3, which is way more than you need to feed and clothe yourself, so you should have been taxed for at least 95% of it.

The standard Florida Bar contract does not allow for 1/3 of such a verdict.

You really must not understand what it is to be that injured. She will require in home nursing care, she will never work again, she will require all kinds of medical equipment...... It is because of people like you that these people need an attorney inthe first place, otherwise they could get the money without one.

i don't recall a single liberal that has advoated against PI trials or settlements. that is tort law. if you have a link for this mystical liberal that has said, when we have a single payer system, then we can abolish tort law, you might have a point.

in most cases over a million dollars, they attorneys do not actually get a third, at least in california. your point about driving home is bizarre. if a doctor saves your leg and charges you thousands of dollars and walks home, do you criticize that? bringing a plaintiffs case, like we have talked about, to trial costs hundreds and occasionally, millions of dollars. there is a risk factor involved. the lawyer could invest a half a million dollars and lose.....guess what....the client loses nothing.

Why didn't you use that contract then? :)

I did, and had I chosen not to, I would have had to get court approval. In your profession, are you required to use a specific contract unless you get prior court approval not to?

How am I stopping her from getting the money?

OK so what percentage did you make?

Id have to use a calculator, but its on a sliding scale, 40% for the first million, and then 33% for the second million, then 20% for the remainder.

Why does that matter? It is what the client contracted to pay. Should people be prohibited from contracting to pay attorneys?

It matters because you, as a liberal, should give your money to those in need, which in this case is your client.
