Yep.. If you knew the total number of molecules, you could accurately split the ruler into 4 equal parts.

But a ruler doesn't measure microns and atoms.... remember... you told us that.

Side note moron. If you knew the exact number of molecules in a 12" ruler, you would also be able to split them precisely into 4" segments.

And if the total number of molecules ends in 0 or 1, one of your pieces will be larger than the other two. :)

You are taking only a part of it ditzie. I said .333e can be restated in fractional form as 1/3. Which it can.

.333e is undefined until you define the value of e. You can "call" it anything you like... "1/3" ..."A Pink Cow"... doesn't matter. The VALUE is the VALUE.

1/3 +1/3+ 1/3 = 3/3= ONE.

What I defined as being a third + What I defined as being a third + What I defined as being a third = ONE! ....voila!

Nothing is missing.

Except your BRAINS!

The point is your absurd claim that 1/3 is not a number and that it doesn't have a value is completely destroyed by those sites ditzie.

I didn't say it wasn't a number, it's actually TWO numbers, see them? a 1 on top, then a slash mark, then a 3 on bottom... I count TWO numbers, do you get only one? That's kind of odd and retarded, count them again!

The VALUE of 1/3 depends on what 1/3 represents the value of. 1/3's value in a 12 oz. cup of coffee is not the same as 1/3's value in a 15 oz. cup of coffee, two distinctly different values for the same "number" ....odd, huh? Not when you understand, 1/3 is not a value or number, it is a REPRESENTATIVE of value. We made it and said, this is what it means! 1/3 has NO value until you know what it is referring to! 1/3 of WHAT?

So again, you are proclaiming that 1/3 has no value?

What I defined as being a third + What I defined as being a third + What I defined as being a third = ONE! ....voila!

YOU HEAR THAT EVERYONE..... I AM THE ONE THAT COINED 1/3 = ONE THIRD.

SUCK IT BITCHES!

Except your BRAINS!

tell you what ditzie... get a mathematician from your local university... have them read this thread. Then have them inform you who is correct and who is without a brain.

You truly are amusing ditzie. This is why people mock you.

ROFLMAO....

hey ditzie.... .25 is representative as well. .25 of a 12 oz cup of coffee is not the same as .25 of a 15 oz cup of coffee.

1/3 is a number and 1/3 has a value moron. Ask ANY mathematician. Or actually try reading 'fractions for dummies'... no wait... that would be way above your reading capabilities. Does anyone know.... in the famed series "see spot run"... did spot ever discuss fractions? For that is ditzies only hope.

This shall be saved for posterity. I missed the first one and I'll BE DAMNED if I allow this to disappear.

It is amusing, is it not?

Get Grind or Damo to sticky it to the lost threads section so that when anyone has a bad day we can just direct them to this thread.... instant laughs and anyone... even Bfgrn... will know that there is indeed someone more moronic and pathetic than them in the world.

Thank you, SF. Best fun today.

—Usage note
The spelling blonde is still widely used for the noun that specifies a woman or girl with fair hair: The blonde with the baby in her arms is my anthropology professor. Some people object to this as an unnecessary distinction, preferring blond for all persons: My sister is thinking of becoming a blond for a while. As an adjective, the word is more usually spelled blond in reference to either sex ( an energetic blond girl; two blond sons ), although the form blonde is occasionally still used of a female: the blonde model and her escort. The spelling blond is almost always used for the adjective describing hair, complexion, etc.: His daughter has blond hair and hazel eyes.

It's actually SEXIST to use "blonde" ....why does it not surprise me that YOU spell it that way?

Because I'm a sexist?

A fraction is actually TWO numbers, a numerator and denominator. A fraction has no value, it is a representation of value. How much coffee would you like? 1/3! I want 1/3 of coffee! Does that tell you how much coffee? 1/3 of WHAT? A Cup? A Pot? A Gallon? You see, my pinheads, the fraction 1/3 has no value, it represents value OF something else.
You are incorrect. A fraction is itself a number, as expressed twice by different sites.

While a fraction can represent two numbers such as in a ratio or in a division problem which are two of the several uses for fractions. It can also be a number in and of itself expressing a specific idea. You begin with this false premise, and everything expressed after continues to be false. The very root of your argument has been shown to be false, yet you seem to continue to argue that the solar system revolves around the earth...

A fraction is two numbers, a numerator and a denominator, and I don't give a fuck how many sites want to try and contradict that. Math can't be argued, there is no such thing as "mathematical opinion" it can either be a mathematical fact, or it's not. When you divide 1 (of anything) into three parts, one part has to include the remainder of the value, there is no way around that. We can make that remainder very small and insignificant, but it is still there. 1÷3=0.33333e We can't define the value of "e" we have to assume it, because it continues on for eternity. Since we do not have the time to calculate to eternity, we assume that all three thirds contain the same amount, relative to each other, and one of the thirds assumes the remainder, as insignificant as it is. I don't know of any way to dumb this down more for you, I can't make the remainder not be there! I wish I could, Damo... I wish I could say that 1÷3=0.333333333334 and that's all she wrote! If 0.333333333334 x 3=1, then we'd have something... but it doesn't! I can't make it equal 1, just because you need for it to! Again, I wish I could help you, Damo, but math is math.

I just want to remind everyone of how awesome I am, but perhaps 3.5 pages of debate over 1/3 is ample proof of that already...
Prove your awesomeness by splitting up a dollar among three people so that they all get the same amount of money...

SM, are you agreeing with Dixie that nothing can be split into 1/3 without a remainder?
