Appeals court hears arguments in Obama birth suit

PASADENA, Calif. – Leaders in the so-called "birther" movement argued their case over President Barack Obama's U.S. citizenship before a federal appeals court Monday in Southern California, claiming the full birth certificate he released last week had been doctored.

...

But it has not deterred Orly Taitz, an attorney at the forefront of the birther movement. On Monday, Taitz told a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that the long-form birth certificate released by Obama is "not a true and correct image."

"It's very inventive computer art," she said.

But Damo said the lawsuits would magically disappear with the release of the original.

Really? Go to pretty much any birther thread and you're pretty much guaranteed to find Damo talking about Obama spending millions on lawsuits to keep the original secret and that all that money was unnecessarily spent and could have been avoided if the original were produced. Surely that means that the lawsuits disappear now that the original has been provided, no?

not good enough bub....you're interpreting his comments to suit your own ends. further...if the original or copy thereof had been produced years ago....it is possible o'rly ditz would not have filed the suit. i pointed out the other day, that due to the amount of time it took for him to release the document, there are going to be people who have dug in their heels and will simply not believe anything else because they have believed in this conspiracy for so long.

i'll let damo speak for himself though

I said they would have if he had released them before they were filed, that had he released it instead of a COLB at the very beginning they would have disappeared. It's a problem of tense... I also said that the longer he held out the less chance that would be the case. You "misremember" nicely.

After he released it I said that only the most nutty would be left. So far my prediction has held out.

Why does the when matter if the lawsuits are all about the long form?

Because the appearance of hiding something makes some people believe that you are. The longer he held out, the more likely there would be nutters who wouldn't let it go. It was one of my first predictions regarding the issue.

Basically, what I said (and predicted) was that he should release it right away or this would happen. I also predicted that the longer he waited the more records they would add to their list.

Predicting that nutters won't let the issue go ain't much of a prediction, Damo. They're nutters. Not letting things go notwithstanding overwhelming evidence to the contrary of their position is what makes them nutters. Christ, one of the first predictions pretty much everyone made is that the nutters would never be satisfied.

k... I remember people telling me that I was stupid for saying that this issue would continue to dog him, that it had legs. What I gave was good advice, if you actually want to avoid the result, which may not be what his goal was. I certainly don't think he is foolish or a bad politician. My guess is that it was a hold card that Trump got him to play early. One that could only be effective if his opponent actually was pushing it... It wasn't likely that Trump would be the nominee, it may have been the only time he could use it to effect.
