2008 Obama called "Naive" for comments such as this.

In 2008 everyone called Obama naive for his comments on going into Pakistan and getting OBL. Now we know he was right and McCain was wrong. Pakistan protected OBL (he was 800 yards from the "Westpoint" of Pakistan. If it had been a Dominos the Pakistani military institute could have gotten the pizza to him in 10 minutes or less).

They were all wrong. All quaking in their boots when in came to what to do if bin Laden or other threats were found in Pakistan. He was right.

I never watched those comments back in 08 because the two people running were a douche and a turd. But if Obama was ridiculed for these comments back then, I would have disagreed. Anyone serious about searching for OBL would have at least recognized that Pakistan was the largest potential place for him to hide.

Hummmmm. Are you really so naive to think that Bush did not support CIA and special black ops missions into Pakistan?

In an interview with CNN in September 2006, Bush was asked if he would order U.S. forces to go after Osama bin Laden inside Pakistan if he received good intelligence on the fugitive al Qaeda leader's location. "Absolutely," he said.

"We would take the action necessary to bring him to justice," Bush said.

His Homeland Security adviser, Fran Townsend, confirmed that position on July 17: "There's no question the president has made perfectly clear if we had actionable targets anywhere in the world, putting aside whether it was Pakistan or anyplace else, we would pursue those targets."

How does Bush fit into this? This thread is about the '08 campaign, and how Obama was lambasted as naive for his position - by MANY on the right...

McCain went onto to say "You make plans and you work with the other country that is your ally and friend, which Pakistan is," McCain added. "You don't broadcast and say you are going bomb the country without their permission or without consulting them." Since you wish to point fingers at Obama's then critics there was this from Biden- Joe Biden, D-Del., said "the way to deal with it is not to announce it, but to do it. The last thing you want to do is telegraph to the folks in Pakistan that we are about to violate their sovereignty.”

The right just got their arse handed to them. It comes back to bite you when you portray a guy as hopelessly naive, and set expectations so incredibly low - and then he makes a gutsy foreign policy decision that gets public enemy #1, and actually comes across like he knows what he's doing on foreign policy (as he is right now).

What they called naive, dipshit, was his broadcasting what he would do...and it was and he shut the fuck up about it once he got into office.

You're wrong; they also called the proposed policy naive. And I'll be waiting with anticipation to hear you describe how his "broadcasting" hurt our finding OBL.

Tough times for you righties currently. It's fun to watch....

I am not wrong and I provided you their quotes! Gawd, but talking with you would be so much easier, if you'd take your fingers out of your ears, open your eyes and quit humming naanannanananananana~

Now take your fingers out of your ears and try and hear this- It is stupid and naive to broadcast to another nation that you'd just go into their country do whatever the fuck you want to- He certainly shut up about it AFTER he was actually president- When Bush was asked he couched his answer very carefully- Obama was out beating a fricking campaign drum-it was naive.

I'm always so amazed at how enamored you guys are of Bush. How was "bring 'em on" for you, ID? Was that naive?

As I said, Obama was also lambasted by the right for policy. It set low expectations, and he exceeded them, and looks better for it.

Deal w/ it.

I deal with it all oncie...it is you who refuse to deal in facts. You accuse Obama's critics falsely-I provided links to their quotes. That makes you a disingenuous asshole. Deal in the facts.

The VP of the US was absolutely right in is analysis...Biden was there for years and knew the policy....and to broadcast that to the world was a stupid thing to do...

But no matter....it all worked out for the best in spite of Obamas stupidity.....no harm, no foul.....
Bidens knowledge of how foreign policy works shows Obama was a pinhead beginner that should have known what to reveal to other countrys....

OBL was gonna be dead no matter where he turned up, if the US had an opportunity to kill him...and if the President didn't authorize it ...OBL would have have a fatal accident

i don't think obama was wrong for broadcasting his intent to follow bin hiden into pakistan. it certainly did not hinder our finally catching him. i believe it put pakistan on notice that you can't hide him and believe the US will stand idly by and do nothing. further...bush said basically the same thing in 2006.
