Republicans on the House Judiciary panel shot down a proposal Thursday to prevent weapon sales to suspected terrorists.

In a party-line vote of 21-11, the committee Republicans killed an amendment from Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) that would have blocked firearm purchases by those on the FBI's terrorist watch list. The vote came during the markup of legislation renewing certain provisions of the Patriot Act that are slated to expire later this month.

Uhh yeah, because it would remove one of their rights without due process of law. Unless you agree with denying rights to people with no legal authority whatsoever.
 
Any and all "gun-control" laws and regulations violate the 2nd amendment.

For someone who claims to not be an authoritarian and not support a police state, you sure do support waiving people of their right to due process of law whenever it fits your goals. So how much do you love the patriot act again?

I just don't have the mind of a child like you. There ARE people in this world that should be blocked from purchasing a firearm. It is a right, but it is not an irrevocable right.

So if I understand this correctly, Bfgoon, you believe it is acceptable to deprive one of their Constitutional right even though they've been convicted of no crime. That is bullshit. And yet, you have the audacity to accuse conservatives of being "authoritarian."

Am I looking at the wrong law here? Once they can declare one area a firearms free zone, how long till anywhere is arbitrarily labeled firearms free by faceless bureaucrats?

Yeah, the constitution only matters if you are waterboarding terrorists... if you are restricting the personal freedom of a US citizen then being "liberal" suddenly means "totalitarian" rather than promoting liberty.

Hardly faceless. He's the GOP rep Peter King, the anti-Muslim fearmonger. Now that he's sponsored an unconstitutional bill, let's see if his felllow bigots turn on him.

False equivalency Damo. Are these people being incarcerated, restrained or harmed Damo? There must be something they have done to warrant being placed on the FBI's terrorist watch list.

Yeah....like the 6month must have caused concern to be patted down and searched by the TSA.....the names on the FBI list can be put there on a whim...because of a misspelled name
or...a mis-identification...
