You're trying to tell me that a true American hero who was a POW and survived many bouts of torture by the enemy knows less about the subject then some civilian who has no information from reliable sources nor has never served in the military, been a POW, been tortured or even has a clue?

The Repelicans really have a problem with their base. They are bound and determined to alienate moderates and independants by kissing these extremist asses. All they have to do is move more towards the center. Repelican wing nuts are doing more to get Obama re-elected than Obama is! LOL

I just find it strange that some focus the waterboarding argument around "effectiveness." To me, the question of whether America should waterboard or not has almost nothing to do with effectiveness....

No I'm saying that Santorum is 100% correct on this. The fact that McCain endured torture as a legitimate soldier has nothing to do with his retarded views on waterboarding, which is not torture, and wasn't done on legitimate soldiers.

If you read the link that 15ppMoot provided you'd see in the first paragraph that person A was simply stating facts.

McCain was not tortured for the purpose of gaining intelligence....he was tortured by the VC to inflict pain...for revenge...for discipline....for punishment.
The VC didn't give a shit if he was maimed or killed in the process, they didn't care one way or the other.....and weren't interested in "secrets" as we think of secrets....

Torture, for the purpose of gaining intelligence is completely different than McCain's treatment.....its purpose is to get you to comply, to co-operate....its 80% physiological and 20% physical.....
Most questions are questions we already know the answers to....the interrogators know when you lie, for the most part ...and that is what keeps the prisoner off balance....
if he lies by telling the interrogator what he thinks the interrogator wants to hear, he'll get tortured, if he lies and the interrogator already knows the truth, he'll get tortured....when he tells the truth the torture is lessened....even though the question might be innocuous....
Intelligence will be gained after "harsh treatment" does its job, usually though normal, somewhat innocent conversation....

The Chinese are masters at this type of interrogation....and won't leave a scar, draw blood, or break a bone in the process .....

Well, they kind of have to by default, seeing as how Obama has done exactly one thing to help get himself re-elected, and that was to send SEAL Team 6 into Pakistan. In fact, I know he will piss a lot of people off over there, but I even find it amusing that he and NATO just launched an airstrike over there. They must be after al-Zawahiri, is all I can surmise.

In fact, I find myself having been fairly supportive of Obama's foreign policy since the Mid East uprisings, seeing as how I'm not terribly offended that he got involved in Libya. I would personally have stayed out, seeing no benefit, but I can't say I'm upset, either...
 
Obama is following in the footsteps of GW in most of the important issues....taxes, the war on terror, foreign policy, etc.....

His only deviation has been Obamacare
