The City of Helotes released part of the 911 calls and dash cam video from an incident last month involving an off-duty Leon Valley police officer.

Helotes and Leon Valley police are investigating the May 1 incident to determine whether the Leon Valley officer was given special treatment.

Neighbors called complaining about a man who they said was drunk and firing his weapon toward their homes.

The man was detained and led away, but there's no record of an arrest.

Neighbors who called 911 said anyone else surely would have been hauled off to jail.

As the investigation continues, the Leon Valley officer is on suspension.

any one of us could drunkenly shoot at a neighbors house with a firearm and be led away to sleep it off also, right?

If you did, you'd defend it as your "right" and boast about how you'd kill any cop that "infringed your rights" by arresting you, right?

as usual, your basic legion strawman.

how about you deal with the issue of special rights and protection for cops that think they are superior to you

Here's what I see...

Police departments in Leon Valley and Helotes are conducting internal investigations into an incident earlier this month in which an off-duty Leon Valley police officer was said to have fired shots in a Helotes neighborhood while intoxicated.

Authorities said Helotes police responded May 1 to reports of shots fired at Leslie Road and Rainbow Ridge. Residents told investigators the off-duty officer was intoxicated and fired shots. Helotes police reportedly took the man away but didn't take him to jail.

The officer has been suspended pending a full investigation...

and I asked YOU, do you see this as special protection for police officers. If this had been a non police officer, would the individual have just been escorted off and not arrested like this off duty cop was?

Don't know.

Unlike you, I prefer to weigh the facts rather than indulge a prejudicial hatred of authority figures.

But that's just me.
