The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has released June figures that show the deficit's growth slowing.
You remember the deficit.
That's the issue that Republicans started fixating on when their Birther strategy crashed.
According to CBO, the deficit in June was $45 billion, $23 billion less than the shortfall recorded a year ago.
CBO says that's because spending was less in June 2011 than it was in June 2010.
I wonder why the newly-minted spending haters aren't mentioning this.
Could it be that -
A. They really don't care about deficits, except as a political football;
or
B. They can't think of a way to take credit for it
