It seems that the hate toward President Obama is not as strong as it was several months ago and not at the level it was against President Clinton, or what Democrats expressed toward President Bush.
Do you agree?
If so why?
Is it a political strategy?
So they feel more secure that he will not get reelected?
Is it simply an evolution in politics?
Or was it tamped down by the debunking of the Birth Certificate issue?
Or any other theories?
Hate is a very strong word, which is why Jughead structured his sentence the way he did. You see, his precious Democrats just can't possibly be guilty of actual hate, they only 'express' hate, while the right is clearly a bunch of real haters. Since it is so beneath the humanity of a Democrat to actually hate, he must pontificate on what could motivate those on the right to hate. He doesn't understand, how can they hate, why do they hate? It's just not possible the right is merely 'expressing' hate, or giving the perception of it, no... they genuinely hate, and he can't figure out why. He's gone through several irrational rationalizations, maybe it's a strategy? Maybe it's so they can feel more secure? Maybe it's evolution of politics, whatever the fuck that means? Ah... maybe it's because his fake birth certificate proved he was really born in Hawaii and this defused all the hate people had for him being a foreigner? There must be an explanation, people don't just hate (or stop hating as much) for no reason. And since he is a loving and compassionate Democrat incapable of actual hate in his heart, he just can't wrap his pinhead mind around why the right hates Obama.
Now, some on the right have already pointed out, the right doesn't hate Obama, just his policies, but this doesn't suit Jughead's bigoted perceptions of the right, we must first admit we do hate Obama, and tell him why he is noticing a decline in the level of hate recently. He's really leaning toward "political strategy." You see, if the right subdues their hatred for Obama, the Democrats won't freak out and get scared that they will lose power, and perhaps encourage Hillary to jump into the fray and run against him for the nomination...a nightmare for the right... and after the primaries, the right will return to the ways of old and begin hating Obama again.
Before you discount my theory, keep in mind, anything a liberal is really thinking deep down inside, it's what they use as a basis to accuse and bash the right, and anything they use to bash the right, is something they are guilty of themselves. Therefore, we can assume that Jughead genuinely hates the right, and his 'political strategy' idea is based on his own endorsements of Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination. Why does the left not seem to hate Romney? Political strategy! Jughead has told us so, in so many words. As soon as Romney gets nominated, they will hate on him with just as much vigor as Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, or anyone else from the right.
None of this really addresses Jughead's pontificating, and I would be remiss not to touch on it. The reason he is not 'feeling the hate' like he was before, is really simple.... it's because the right is busy trying to select a candidate to challenge Obama. This is coupled with the fact that since his poll numbers are tanking even within his own base, Obama has practically turned into a vanilla ice cream cone. Nothing too controversial... nothing to get anyone riled up... just keep doing fundraisers, blaming his troubles on republicans, and promising to fix problems after we reelect him. Never fear, Jughead, what you perceive as hate for Obama, will return as soon as we have a candidate to run against him.
