Question for Republicans

Thats because under Reagan policies were enacted to prevent such a recession. AND, the recession was over in March of 2009,2 1/2 months after Obama entered office.
Really? What policies were those?

I mean like the great recession from 1980 to 1982 was a figment of my imagination? That it never happened cause Reagan ecacted policies that prevented it? Really?

.

Its a fact. Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Carter all continued to increase the size of government.
Dude? Are you a complete blythering moron? It's common knowledge that the two largest increase in the size of government and the increase in the scope of government powers increased the most in the last 60 under Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush....and not by small increments either. Are you that seriously blinded by the kool-aid your drinking? Ya know I liked Reagan. Voted for him twice but hell any idiot can see that he grew the government like a mother fucker, by leaps and bounds ahead of his predecessors.

And lets not talk about the national debt. Yea...it's a problem that needs to be fixed but while Repubs under Reagan and Bush were spending money like drunken sailors who accumulated 75% of that debt and it's funny how ya'll were sayin deficits don't matter under Bush and now when a Democrat has to deal with a fiscal disaster precipitated by gross incompetency of the fiscus by Repelicans and now that we have a Democrat as President deficits now matter to you? Dude....come back when you have some crediblity and want to have an adult conversation.

Yea....and we laughed at you because it was one of the dumbest things someone has said on this board in a long, long time. You say stuff like that you might as well just tatoo "Kool-Aid Drinker. I cant' Think for myself" on your fore head. LOL

Its a fact.

????? A veto will not cause a cent to be spent or raise a cent in taxes, einstein. Like I said.

You only think its dumb for me to reveal that fact because it doesnt fit with your propaganda.

"Government Powers" ???? I'll interpret your abandonment of the previous claims as giving up on them.

No I think it's stupid cause obviously you've been drinking the right wing kool-aid and you haven't a clue on how to think for yourself.

That was a demonstrably stupid comment. IT IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WHO AUTHORIZES THE NATIONAL BUDGET AND SIGNS IT INTO LAW and if he doesn't like it he can veto it and send it back to congress. So stop making stupid excuses.

Now if you wanted to make a cogent comment you may note that congress, regardless of party, has never seen a spending program it didn't like and are all to obliged to pass any Presidents spending program if it benefits their disctrict. There's certainly enough blame to go around but to sit here and try to bullshit us that Reagan and W did not preside over the two largest leaps in the growth of the Federal Government in US history and bear no accountability for it is just simply incredulous and is flat out wrong.

Babbling fool. Nothing youve said even contradicts the FACT that

????? A veto will not cause a cent to be spent or raise a cent in taxes, einstein. Like I said. .

Can you even read a graph? That graph corroborates exactly what I said. that the two largest increases in government spending in the last 60 years occurred under Reagain (1980-88) and W (2000 - 2008). Read the freaken chart!

Well, it doesnt show that at all and it confirms MY STATEMENT that

.
Its a fact. Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter all continued to increase the size of government.

Which you continue to vehemently deny. We can see that in just the 2 years of Obama represented on the chart out do anything Bush or Reagan did.

In the history of the US, only fifteen Presidents have been Democrat. Eighteen have been Republicans. And yet, spending has never actually been cut, and the deficit has never shrunk (except in the late 90s, when Bill Clinton was in the White House). The only time the debt was reduced by a Republican was in the 1950s under Eisenhower, a liberal Republican. Every other Republican President, including Ronald Reagan, grew the government.

How do you explain this?

With such a pathetic record of fiscal conservatism, how do you ever expect the GOP will reduce the size and scope of government? Hell, Clinton did much better. If he were able to run again, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat over Romney or Gingrich.

if I'm not mistaken there have only been two years in which there was a Republican president, a Republican Senate and a Republican House, during that two year period terrorists blew up the WTC.......even so, I consider it a terrible waste of opportunity to actually cut spending......

apparently then the chart doesn't include the increases in government spending during the Obama years which has exceeded both combined......

The United States has had a public debt since its founding in 1791.

The U.S. debt/GDP ratio reached a maximum during World War II near the beginning of President Harry Truman's first presidential term.

Public debt as a percentage of GDP fell rapidly in the post-WWII period, and reached a low in 1973 under President Richard Nixon.

The debt burden has consistently increased since then, except during the presidencies of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

The last four Republican Presidents (George W. Bush, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford) all oversaw an increase in the country’s indebtedness...
