This issue proves to me how horrible the right wing republican party has become.

You people DEFEND what is obviously by all the facts surrounding it an attempt top keep LEGAL AMERICAN VOTERS FROM VOTING so your party can win.

It makes me want to wretch to think how UnAMERICAN YOUR PARTY HAS BECOME.

Funny that some of the same people who cry about 'hate crime laws' being unneccesary want more laws to combat the tiny number of voter ID fraud cases, even though there are already laws on the books....

Both federal and state laws include stiff fines and imprisonment for voter fraud.

Under federal law, perpetrators face up to five years in prison and a fine of $10,000 for each act of fraud.

Silly assumption, that if they cant discover voter fraud, it does not exist.

Not as stupid as the continued belief from hysterical Righties that voter fraud is a common occurrence, this despite NUMEROUS searches for fraud that resulted in only A HANDFUL of convictions.

WOW...52 whole convictions for voter fraud? In a city of 50,000? Why that's almost...no, don't tell me....001%!!!!!! GOOD LORD! And this is the most "widespread" case of voter fraud they can find!

And the new voter suppression laws touted by the right would have prevented those cases....how?

They made the voting lines 11 hour trek of waiting in line in Ohio.

Who is it the can not stand in line for 11 hours?

Its poor people working two and tree jobs who dont have that kind of time all at once.

The just keep rigging the system in EVERY way they can think of to keep LEGAL American voters from voting.

You people turn arround and Defend their efforts at every turn.

Your republican party has become the most Anti American party in the country.

You hate the governemnt the founders left us and are doing everything you can to distroy this countreis government.

Hilarious that you still whine about it even though you've been shown time and again that voter fraud is almost non existent!

How did you do that? I would presume, anyone who voted under a fake identity, would likely never even be discovered. Silly logic. Would you determine the # of people who use illegal drugs by examining how many have been convicted of illegal drug use?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHBAHAHAH

so when there is NO evidence for what you claim you just claim we cant find the evidence?

Um...yes. Are you suggesting otherwise, because that would be speculation?

Im not the one making declarations of fact regarding the level of voter fraud. YOU people are, without any evidence.

So when multiple investigations turned up no evidence to support your position, you claim that proves your case?

WHAT????>???

we gave a five years study by the opposition party government that Proves they type of fraud you claim is a danger doesnt exsist in any numbers that can effect elections.

You are the one saying we just cant find the evidence that people are cheating like you claim they are.

Your party just gets more dishonest by the minute

Allegations of voter fraud usually get big headlines. What does not get headlines is the fact that nearly all allegations of voter fraud turn out to be clerical errors, data matching mistakes, or misunderstandings.

In reality, voter fraud is extremely rare.

In the 2008 U.S. Senate election recount, lawyers for both candidates looked for fraud in the election. They found none.

Our election system has many checks and balances in the system that ensure the integrity of our elections.

Checks and balances that take place before and after the election look at everyone who signed the roster to make sure that voter was legitimate.

If there are questions, they are forwarded to county attorneys for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Because most of the flagged records are data -entry errors or the result of a misunderstanding, charges are rare.

The most frequent type of charge is felons who vote before their civil rights have been restored.

These could not be prevented by photo ID; felony status is not noted on a driver's license.

Our current laws have proven sufficient to deter voter fraud.

The penalty can be steep - up to a $10,000 fine and one year in jail.

When we look at the few ballots that are wrongly cast in an election, there are virtually none that would have been prevented had those voters been required to show photo ID.

A photo ID can only prevent voter impersonation.

Election experts are nearly unanimous in their agreement that voter impersonation is not a factor in our elections, due in no small part to the fact that in-person voter fraud presents a high risk of being caught and offers small pay-off.
