In most states, if you have been CONVICTED of misdemenor domestic violence you cannot buy a gun from a dealer. The same goes for the restraining order. But those laws do not mean you cannot keep the guns you own nor does it prevent you from buying one from a private citizen.

Just an FYI, you can accuse someone of domestic violence and you can sign out a restraining order without any proof at all.

Luckily we do not remove all constitutional rights simply because you have been accused of something by your wife or girlfriend.
