Changes Coming to America

I resisted the Kindle for a long time, but I finally caved and got the Kindle touch. The only reason I did it is because of room. At some point, if you are a real reader, you just collect so many books and they take up so much space.

However, I agree it's two-tiered and I would never give up my hard-bound classics, or academic presses. Many of the classics for instance, have introductions that are not available on ebooks. That's a problem.

I'm on my second Kindle (Kindle Fire)....best innovation since sliced bread.....used to give books to the library by the hundreds.....

The way I see it is we either help the rest of the world have jobs or we keep subsidizing them. It's about balancing things out, helping other countries catch up. A necessary step before one world government.

One world government.....maybe you can be the Emperor....Grand Puma.....and learn to speak Farsi......................................................................fool!

LOL I like the sound of your wife. Yep, that's a problem. And even if you do have the room, how many book cases do you really want? I think the Kindle is the perfect answer because it cuts down on the number of books you buy, but I'll always buy some books.
You'd like my wife. She's a rare combination of beauty and evil (she has to be...she lives with me). She's also rather inscrutible. She gives an outward image of being a carefree girly girl which leads people to make the mistake of underestimating her considerable intelligence. To put it simply, I adore her. :)

I'm debating buying a kindle or waiting till tablet computer prices drop or biting the bullet and buying a tablet computer which can be used as an e-reader too.

When CD's came out, everyone predicted that vinyl records would no longer be available; but there's been an upsurge in people wanting record players and vinyl records, because they've found that the clarity and music that comes from a CD does not reach what is available from vinyl.

Very true. MP3 technology is very convienant but it's no where near the same quality as vinyl.

This explains why you're a liberal voting Democrat......you're too stupid to face reality, still living in the fantasy of Obamaland, still chanting "Yes, we can" and "Hope and Change"
We have,
Debt amounts so large you can't comprehend the figure and the consequences of not being able to pay the bill......
Unemployment is someones else's problem because you have a job or live in Mommies basement....
Welfare no problem because you don't realize the money to sustain it is not infinite.......

You think you can exist living off the success of others......

Actually I'm a right of center moderate but comapred to a Nazi like you I would seem to be fairly liberal. As per my comments when I refered to those who did not invest in their own self actualization I was refering to GED's like you. Life is going to piss all over losers like you. LOL

Again you reveal you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground......

Like I said above, I'm on my second Kindle while you can't afford you first....but then, the comic books you read are better on paper......
and as is par for the course, all you can do is call people names and ridicule rather than try to win by debate......
As for 'life'......I'm long retired since my early 50's livin' the good life, while you contribute to my SS check.......now don't be late for your shift at Burger King......

being fiscally conservative does not make you right of center moderate. it only makes you fiscally conservative. the rest of you is liberal enough to place you solely on the left.

A Kindle is 79 dollars. A kindle touch is 99. The Kindle Fire you mentioned, is actually a tablet, and it's 199.

There's no way Mott can't afford a Kindle, but let's say he couldn't? Why on earth would that be brought up? Who cares?

What a braggert.

Wellll.....thats the most civil post I've ever gotten from you.......anyway,

Its because of his comment " I was refering to GED's like you. Life is going to piss all over losers like you. LOL" in Post 25.....did you miss that, or does he just get a pass ?

But you're right......who cares.......

The Kindle Fire is nice.....the color is great and no need for an external light to read in the dark......
The transition from paper to ebooks is a llittle strange at first but the convenience of ebooks and the ability to sample books before you buy is super......
Over the years I've sometimes purchased the same book 3 times not remembering I read them years ago.....
My first Kindle was over $350....I think it was the 2nd generation version.....not bragging, just to show the advances made over the years......

But then I'm suppose to be anti-science according to the propagandists.....

Is it too difficult for you to understand we have to unite the planet? As technology increases along with the proliferation of WMD individuals and communities and countries unfairly treated will become a greater threat.

Note: Don't you mean Grand Pooh Bah? :)

Try to copy the image off a reader on to silly putty and you'll realize why comics on paper is better. :tongout:

how do you plan on uniting them? by force of arms under an oppressive one world government or offering unprecedented individual freedom and liberty to all with a government to protect their rights?

Most likely a combination of both. People have to be free but they also have to treat others equally.

One example. A One World Government could ensure sufficient fuel is distributed so that food would not have to be used as a fuel. Then there would be more food available.

I'm sure you can think of other examples where a united world, combining and using resources efficiently, would greatly benefit mankind.

A major problem stopping progress is political uncertainty. A One World Government could eliminate that problem and mankind could bound ahead.

so you have to force them to submit to authority in order for them to be free? i'm betting that you can't even see the wrongness of your own statement. and tell us, what will you do to prevent the 'one world government' from making themselves an 'elite' class of people.....one group above the law?

I'll be fucked if I ever give up my books. You proles having a single book case is laughable.

I have well over 2000 books in my collection. And that's just the books here. I have a bunch in storage as well for when I have more shelving...

That being said, I'm thinking of getting a nook or a kindle... Why not? Just another way for people to give me books.

:D

Ill admit I don't have much in the way of literature. Most of my office is filled with technical manuals, black smithing books, etc. I love reading them though.

Of course. Just like society operates today. We have laws we have to obey which prevents one from interferring in the freedom of others.

Elections. It could operate like democratic governments.
