Florida Poll: Gingrich 34, Romney 26

Rationalist

Hail Voltaire
A new poll from Florida conduced by InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion Research finds 34.4 percent of Republican voters going for Newt Gingrich and 25.6 percent for Mitt Romney. Ron Paul has support from 13.1 percent, while Rick Santorum gets 10.7 percent.

If Gingrich takes Florida, his chances of winning the nomination will be significantly increased, at which Florida Republicans are officially morons (in case you didn't know it already). And if Gingrich wins the nomination, Obama will win reelection. It's just that simple.

Personally, I'm already thinking forward to 2016 when Republicans will maybe come to their senses and nominate someone like Rand Paul. But I tend to doubt that will happen. Most Republicans are idiots, a reality that is difficult to circumvent.

I don't think it is necessarily "that simple"... There were a great many republicans during Reagan's 1980 bid that said the same thing about him.

Florida's an Odd Duck. It has it's own north/south divide. North Florida conservatives are your typical right wing southern red necks and your retired military types. Southern Florida Republicans are composed of Cubans and geriatric northern snow birds. I can see Romney doing better in Southern Florida and Gingrich doing better in the north.

The problem with that is that not one of the remaining four GOP candidates has a fraction of Reagans charisma. Hell they don't even have a fraction of W's charisma.

Polls show Romney with a clear national advantage in the polls. Though Gingrich is doing well in Florida and even if he wins Florida he has NV, ME, CO, MN, MO, AZ, MI and WA prior to super Tuesday. Romney has clear leads in the polls in all those states, except maybe MO. That means any momentum Gingrich has by winning two states in his own back yard will be lost by Super Tuesday. To be viable Newt has to win half the primaries on super Tuesday, and that's quite possible. Newt is very competative in Ohio were most conservatives are from the south and western parts of the State are to the far right. Newt also should be able to win TN, OK, GA, ND and VA. If Newt wins OH, GA, TN and VA then we got us a horse race. The question is, can Newt maintain any sort of momentum between Florida and Super Tuesday where he's likely to get his ass kicked.

Makes me wish I was still a registered Republican (I changed my party affiliation in 2004) as I'd certainly would vote for Romney. I have a friend who's a die hard liberal democrat who is registered as a Republican. He plans on voting for Newt on the basis that Obama would beat him in a land slide.

LOL That's fabulous.

That can all change literally overnight if Newt blows Mitt out in Florida. Mitt was the perceived nominee and the R elite were pushing to that big time, and their servants in the media went right along. How fast can that change? In the blink of an eye.

I still think Mitt is the likely nominee, but this is going to get very interesting. There is about to be a shitstorm the likes of which we have not seen. This is where citizens united is going to be played out. I absolutely love it. You reap what you sow. The big money boys want Mitt, and the R elite want Mitt because they believe Newt cannot win and is so repugnant to most voters that he's going to lose the House and all kinds of local elections for them while he is at it. Romney is going to throw so much shit at Newt it's going to be hysterical.

What's even funnier is that not one pearl clutcher on this board had a peep to say about the hit ad that Romeny's money boys put out on Newt- claiming Newt told one of his mistresses or wives (I didn't pay attention to the details) to get an abortion. This was put out in S Carolina home of the George W Bush "Hey folks did ya'll know that John McCain fathered himself a n-word chile?" push poll of 2000.

If that ad had been put out in the General, there would have been fainting all around here. Why Annie would have come out with at least 3 threads entitled "Chicago Politics" and long stories of all of the dirt she saw Obama pull there, and how disgusting it was, and how disgusted she was.

And that's just one poster here.

But Mitt did it? not a word.

Not one word.

LMAO I love it.

Get ready for this when there is one small thing said about the R nominee in the General. Along with all of the cries of "chicago thugs" and chicago politics! I can't wait. It's hysterical. Get out your pearls now guys! You want to practice that clutching!

I'm voting Newt as well. Newt 2012, guys! Newt 2012!

can you give me one good reason why Obama should have a second term?.....and "because he forgot he was president and didn't use his first one" is not an acceptable answer......

Well;

He saved our auto industry.
He ended the immoral war in Iraq.
He had bin Ladin hunted down and killed.
He began much needed reform of our healt care system.
He limited the damage from conservative fiscal ineptitude and prevend the Bush recession from becoming the Bush depression.
He committed US resources to binging down and ending the Khadaffi regine.
Ended the hypocritical and bigoted "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."
Stopped defending DOMA in the courts.
Extended CHIP
Ended the pre-existing condition travesty in health care.
Over hauled the credit card industry and provided for a greater degree of consumer protection from predatory lending practices.
Created the much needed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Obtained medical help for first responders injured and disabled during the 911 attacks.
Eliminated most of the remaining heads of Al Qaeda
Began drawing down forces in Afghanistan.

Should I go on?

I'm pretty sure the Cubans in south Florida are Republican for the most part. The Cuban exiles were the most right-wing, religious people in Cuba. The left-wingers mostly stayed with Castro.

Obama's immoral assassination campaign are a strike against him, and the only reason I don't vote against him is because he's opened Pandora's box and I know that Republicans would only be far worse. Obama is such a short-sited individual - appeasing the bloodthirst of the American public at one hand, unknowledgable of the fact that he's setting a horrific precedent. When our forefather's put an end to assassination, they did so for a reason. But Obama thinks he is wiser than history, that the sadistic pleasure that the American public receive's from watching other human beings die unnecessarily is enough to make up for all of that.

You forgot to add:

Faster than a speeding bullet.
More powerful than a locomotive.
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Look! Up in the sky!
It's a bird. It's a plane. It's SuperObama!

Yes, it's SuperObama - strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. SuperObama - who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel with his bare hands, and who, disguised as Barrack Obama, mild mannered President of the United States, fights the never ending battle against Truth, Justice and the American Way.
