Just an interesting point, if Iran survives this they're going to be pretty hardcore, they're getting crap from every side and have few friends, they're going to be rather interested in a little payback for all the stuff we've done to them.

they are already pretty hardcore, but will the iranian government survive the latest round of sanctions, things are pretty bad there already with a lot of unrest over the repression and poor economy due to irans major investment in nuclear and missile capabilty

It does seem to be kind of their history yes. Survive the next invasion, whereever it comes from, and get revenge, however long it takes. Almost as depressing as the Russian history pattern
