The arabs are the people native to that land, you know, the guys who live there. Islam/ Christianity have both converted them by the sword, but it's still arabs living there no matter what they call themselves. It's like germany, it may be a christian nation but it's always been germans living there. Now, self determination is the practice of allowing the groups, ethnic or otherwise, to rule themselves, commonly cited by Woodrow Wilson in response to the aftermath of ww1, and the breakup of the Austro-Hungarian Empire into a dozen little nations and the construction of Poland from what had been Germany and Russia previously. For your information it's also been cited by Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Ghandi and several others, including the Viet Cong and European colonies in Africa, it's the concept that the people should rule themselves.
