mormons appologize to jews

depends on strong the prayers are

it is not necessary to believe in gaea of the universes to alter reality through thought or if you prefer prayer

okay, really strong prayer....mojo of the most extreme kind...how do you envision your reality altered if Mormons think of you?.......

it would depend on how strong their payers are

they would have to very strong to alter my reality and that would make me rather angry (one of the few things that would)

as to how they might alter my reality, it would depend on what they were praying for

since i am not a likely candidate for their prayers, i do not think that i will worry about it

I think you are dodging the question.....if you assume the possibility of prayers strong enough to cause a change in reality what would you expect that reality to be and that they are praying for you to be inducted into heaven.....are you saying you believe they could pray "heaven" into existence and that you would find yourself there involuntarily?......if not, why should you care what they do......if so, what consequence for your views of the afterlife?.....

I can't imagine why anybody would care. This is utter nonsense. They believe that they can save your soul by psychically linking to the invisible man in the sky then "baptizing" air while saying your name.

The idea that this is somehow a horrible thing to do is just frickin' nuts to me. Just like a Christian praying for God to "save" my soul, or a Catholic Praying (paying) my way into heaven after death... If they want to waste their money by giving it to a Priest who says he has the keys to heaven that's their business.

Who gives a rat's behind whether they say my name while "baptizing" absolutely nothing?

it is not only a disgusting practice but laden with arrogance

Yep. People are entitled to hold their own beliefs sacred and not subject to other's interference. And praying for someone is a lot different from performing a specific religious rite on people who don't ascribe to that religion. Even if it is on paper only.

Now if I learned that a Jew or a Muslim did something similar to one of my family, to be honest I'd probably laugh about it. But I'd still think it was a pretty ballsy thing to do.

why?......I don't see it and I would love to have someone explain who thinks they do......

if for example I dropped a penny in a coffee can every time I read something silly posted by you, does that do anything besides give me a decent retirement income?......have you somehow been harmed.......

why do you care.....it's not like your body is actually involved, and it certainly won't result in you arriving in heaven involuntarily........
How do you know? I mean just think how much it would suck if I was dead, my soul floating around the universe, watching suns explode and civilizations rise and fall, then suddenly im pulled off into the mormon heaven to pray to a father figure for all eternity, how much would that suck.

Oh and it's an incredibly arrogant procedure, we all know that our religion is best, but at least we try to convince you when you're alive, not induct you into our crypts.

I have always been accustomed to praying for the conversions of all Jews and non-Catholic Gentiles, so I'm not sure what's so big about this, other than that everybody hates Mormons...

as i said in another post, i do not like others messing with my karma

i do not agree with their version heaven and prefer to work my lives as i choose

Like gay marriage can't possibly alter your marriage in any way, only you can "mess" with your karma.

i find myself opposing your position as i think that the power of the mind can alter reality and i would not like to be on the receiving end of someone else's version of reality

i think that i must agree to disagree with you

ps i am of the belief that gaea/god is 100% pervasive and is everywhere and that we are a manifestation of gaea and also a part of gaea of the universes

pps i was raised christian science and my shift to gaea of the universes from god is a logical progression

If you believe that you can save others by doing something, but do not, what does that do to your karma? Getting angry at others for doing the "right thing" isn't good for your karma.

Basically, you won't be able to get them to stop because if they actually believe in their religion this there is no other moral action for them to take. The alternative of allowing others to suffer when you can alleviate is repugnant.

Long ago I figured this out as my mother kept desperately trying to save my soul against my beliefs and objections. If she truly believes, and she does, that the only way to heaven is through her belief system what other action could she possibly take?
