I'm over 45 years of age.
Since you seem to be assuming, would you care to explain your reasoning in requesting such?

from the article: "three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant. "

why is there a specific law for a public servant that provides them greater protections than the regular non public servant?

Damn. I have aged out of the militia. Does the second amendment still apply to me? I was just about to buy a muzzle loading rifle too.

Because they are specifically charged with keeping order in a uniquely dangerous role to their lives. That anyone who would violate that duty, knows what they are doing, which is basically giving the finger to the law. There is no conspiracy in saying that if you violate these specific public servants there is a unique penalty. This does not make law enforcement officer better- but is designed to give pause to anyone willing to perpetrate an act of violence against them. Laws can have and do have, varying penalties and provisions built into them.

so the penalty for assaulting the soccer mom is the same as assaulting officer smith?

Depends on what penalties that jurisdiction has enacted with regards to assaulting a peace officer- Most jurisdictions have specific penalties if the assault is against a peace officer- which I already acknowledged?

then equal protection under the law is really just a myth, since police officers are better protected by virtue of crimes against them being punished more harshly. I would say that that is indeed making police officers better than us. why wouldn't you?
