What exactly is the argument for NOT drilling?

The FACT is that th oil companies ARE sitting on MILLIONS OF ACRES of land they could be drilling on, but they won't. Instead, they want the government to open up NEW tracts of land...why, when they won't drill the land they already have under lease?

Alaska is one example and now they are blackmailing us for lower taxes before they develop these leases!

I think a lot of liberals nationally are not, but I can only speak for myself. It's one area of energy policy that I'm just all for - it's a rare area of agreement w/ Damo & me. We both favor a "kitchen sink" approach to energy policy.

Anything to get off foreign oil. Drill baby, drill...

Unless I have missed it, most board liberals have a common sense approach to energy and drilling. It is just the fringe that oppose it.

Yeah - that's my read on it, as well. I've seen some arguments against specifics like ANWR & offshore, but rarely.
 
well, I'm sorry....but given the unprecedented nature of your revelation I find it a bit difficult to swallow.......perhaps you can point me to any statement you may have made on this board older than say, the last twenty four hours, that would bear out your passion for oil?.....

I posted in about '02 against ANWR. Since then, I have changed my views on the topic radically - given the investment & cost of our involvement in the Middle East, it's just a no brainer to me now. I have posted many, many times since on the need to open up more domestic drilling.
 
So after the downfall of Dixie, PiMP can't find anyone opposed to domestic production either....
 
I just hope Boehner and McConnell pick up on this, and push through some legislation while these idiots are mouthing this bullshit. We'd see how fast they'll abandon this new-found love of oil, I bet. It's just stunning to me that they would have the audacity to try and claim they are all for drilling, and never have been opposed to it.... \\\\|||//// wants us all to pretend he hasn't posted a hundred threads opposing domestic drilling, that just never did happen, even though the threads are all over the board. Zapped and RAnal acting like sugar won't melt in their mouth, they've always favored more drilling...lmfao!
