Recall election ordered for Wis. Gov. Scott Walker

I think he holds up. It will depend largely on who he goes up against (obviously) as to whether it is a dogfight or a cruise control type election. Obviously this particular race is going to be flush with Union money. They cannot lose this race. If the state continues improving it is going to be hard to convince moderates that Walker is da evilz they make him out to be. Especially if the Walker side (including the PACs that come into the fight on his side) highlights effectively the benefits to the schools and the fact that the dire consequences predicted by the left did not occur.

That said, from what I have heard thus far, they are going to be stupid and go negative for negative for the most part because 'that is what works'. But they will 'stay positive' if the 'other side' does. This is going to be ugly, plain and simple.

As for the potential candidates, the main two are the ones the article mentioned. Barrett (he is very likely going to run) is probably the more viable option as Falk is a union shill and will too easily be painted as such. Barrett is the more moderate of the two. My assumption is that if he does enter he will dominate a Dem primary. In the general he will carry Milwaukee and Madison fairly easily which is why it will be a likely dogfight.

The very fact that the liberal labor lawyer started by discussing Walker's campaign for student body President at Marquette is quite hilarious.

What about the more important facts, such as the fact that 6 members of his cabinet are in jail or awaiting sentencing?

A new round of criminal charges is coming soon against at least a couple of Gov. Scott Walker’s former county staffers for doing extensive campaign activity while on the taxpayers’ dime, sources say.
The charges – which should be filed by District Attorney John Chisholm’s office in the next week or two – will be part of the long-running John Doe investigation of Walker’s aides and associates during his tenure as Milwaukee County executive [...]
The next phase, insiders say, is focusing on the role some of Walker’s closest associates and county employees had in a real estate deal involving a county agency. The point man on the deal, real estate broker Andrew Jensen, was arrested last month for allegedly failing to cooperate with the investigation. Jensen, who was not charged, is set to meet with prosecutors this week.
Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf declined to discuss any phase of the probe – including whether taxpayers footed the bill for campaign labor.
“I officially have no comment whatsoever,” Landgraf said Friday.

There are other tentacles of this investigation out there, including the use of government resources for campaign activities. But this real estate deal seems like the one ready to break open. Capper has a long explanation of all of this at the Wisconsin site Cognitive Dissonance, including a bunch of other possibilities.
All of this will weigh heavily on the recall election. Walker already has problems from failing to produce the jobs he promised, and from his attack on public workers. But the corruption angle can really harm him, and it goes straight to character. Some really powerful ads can get created from this source material. Walker and his buddies used cronyism and plundered state resources at public expense. Ultimately that’s what this comes down to.

Say goodnight Gracie.

Here is one of your cases...

Pierick's attorney, Maura McMahon, said Thursday there isn't enough probable cause to support the charges, telling Waukesha County Court Commissioner Thomas J. Pieper that Pierick responded to a Craigslist ad that had been posted by someone who said he was 19 and that Pierick thought he was dealing with an adult.

That person, who turned out to be a 17-year-old boy, told Pierick a number of times that he was over 18, McMahon said.

McMahon, who filed a motion to dismiss the charges Wednesday, said it was clear from details included in the criminal complaint lodged against Pierick that he was not trying to entice a child.

Text messages between the two indicate that Pierick didn't want anything to do with someone who was under 18, she said.

But Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Sara Lewis argued that belief about age is not a defense and that the charges should stand because a child was involved in "this particular situation." Milwaukee County is prosecuting the case in Waukesha County.

She also noted that the child sent a photo to Pierick and Pierick should have been able to tell from the child's appearance in the photo that he was not an adult.

So the 17 year old poses as 19, Pierick's texts indicate he wants nothing to do with anyone under 18, yet the DA for Milwaukee county thinks he should be able to tell the difference between a 17 year old and a 19 year old from a photo?

Two others are allegedly involved in skimming money from a charity. So do tell us how that applies to Walker. Just because they used to work for him does not indicate he is involved in their scam.

Two others are up on charges of campaigning while on the taxpayers dime. When Walker found out about one, he stated (as indicated in your link) that such activity was not to happen again.

This 'secret' investigation appears to be a witch hunt. While it is good that they nail anyone who abused/violated the law, it seems quite feeble in the attempt to link Walker to most of these.
