Did 'stand your ground' self-defense motivate more hate crimes?

and this is why part of the liberal agenda is despised. the whole idea of sacrificing the few for the many is repugnant and disgusting. I picture a situation of terrorists hiding a nuke somewhere in the city and to prevent it from detonating, all that has to be done is a mob of people need to lynch STY, and the liberals racing to do it.

now, is it worth the sacrifice of a handful of lives in scrapping self defense laws so that you can feel better about nobody being able to get away with murder?

You suffer from probably the worst case of cognitive dissonance I have ever seen. You have the nerve to be on your high horse talking about liberals being repugnant and disgusting for being willing to sacrifice the few for the many (which btw, is absolutely 100% false), and yet, right here you have this conversation:

Is it worth having innocent people shot by morons so you can feel better about being able to kill someone where ever you feel threatened?

STY said:
yes. it is. If I'm going to sacrifice my life for someone else, I should at least get the choice of who i'm going to save. It shouldn't be your prerogative to sacrifice me, or anyone else for that matter, just so you can feel better about not letting anyone get away with murder.

In fact, you have clearly and explicitly stated that you are willing to sacrifice the few for what you perceive to be the many (though in practice you are sacrificing the many to benefit the few, which is what makes this whole thing even more ludicrous).

You are what you loathe. And your cognitive dissonance has reached stage IV. You need a medical intervention, fast.

I would like to see an investigation in the numbers as well, especially since you claim that homeowners were never charged, and I can personally attest otherwise.

Yes, I'm sure all the gun nuts can personally attest to the same thing. The problem is, it didn't happen in Florida under the castle doctrine prior to the stand your ground expansion.

I don't think any of you want to see those numbers investigated, to be frank. But I sure hope that they are. You can bet I'll bring them here if it happens. I can pretty much guarantee you and STY will not.

Cause I know what they're going to say.

how many innocent people are shot by people using this law vs. how many innocent people are shot by people who go out killing on purpose?

Once again your thoughts are wrong. I already asked Florida for the statistics on the above. They said they do not keep them on a statewide basis, that the data would have to be accumulated from the counties.

OMG, you have that thing where you think every thing I write is about you. It's really amazing. Hello, Mister God, I am not thinking of you in most posts that I write!

You really need to get an ego check. Do they have like a Jiffy Lube for ego's? I think you need some fluid or something!

Your words: "I don't think any of you want to see those numbers investigated"

Forgive me for thinking 'any of you' was a reference to everyone on the board who was asking to see the stats or disagreeing with you. I should have known to translate your words from common sense back to nonsensical womanspeak. I should have been aware you really meant 'any of you except those that I am not including that I will mention at a date to be determined in the future'

I mean seriously, what was I thinking... actually believing 'any of you' could actually mean 'any of you'?

I was referring to those I was arguing with; the gun nuts. I don't consider you a gun nut. Maybe you are a gun nut, I don't know. But you do think every thing I write is about you. Get over it already. That post I put about Libertarians - YOU never even crossed my mind yet you were sure I was writing it all about you. You are either way too egotistical or way too sensitive. I am not sure, but my money is on ego. Don't worry I am going to be very clear from now on every time I write a post.

Gee, let me think...he calls himself Super, yeah, could possibly be an ego issue.

lol...nah... Rick James was a singing in the background the day I first logged on to the old politics.com board.

O.K., that obvious dart readily deflected, do you really mean to say that you do not consider your reasoning skills to be somewhat above par?

Yes, because when I say one thing I clearly mean the exact opposite of what I said. I'm pretty mad at your assumption here, so rather than say somethings that would be mean, I'll say you're wrong and the most ignorant person in the known history of humanity for that assumption.

Are you saying you know of a homeowner who was charged with homicide in a Castle Doctrine state?

There must have been extenuating circumstances, since the Castle Doctrine defense is pretty clear.

Its before the castle doctrine. He was later acquitted though, but not until after 18 months in prison.

That's not the assumption I was referring to though.

Gee; this takes the old "what is the meaning of is", to a whole new level. :palm:

"Justifiable" homicides are up 300%

The old law gave you the right to protect yourself with deadly force inside your home.

Florida Statute 776.013(3), gives you the right to protect yourself in a park, outside a Chili's, on a highway — just about anywhere.

Reports of justifiable homicides tripled after the law went into effect, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
