OSWEGO, Ill. – A 12-year-old sports fanatic has died in Illinois after being hit in the neck by a baseball while warming up for a game this week.

Eric Lederman, a sixth-grader from Oswego, Ill., roughly 50 miles southwest of Chicago, was hospitalized after being hit while throwing a ball with a teammate Wednesday night before a league game in Wheaton, the Chicago Tribune reported.

He died Thursday night, leaving his local community in shock.

"He was an inspiration to his teammates, coaches and baseball family," Brian Zacker, the coach of Eric's baseball team, told the newspaper. "He played with an infectious smile and played the game with tremendous passion and heart."

i've heard of stories like this in the past and it always makes me sad that such a young life was wasted...and then to have the board troll mock it by calling it trolling.
 
if baseballs weren't legal, this type of thing wouldn't have happened. For too long now we've had a culture of baseball in this country, and look where it got us. Now a kid is dead. Anyone that disagrees, remember, someone is dead, and that's all that matters. If you aren't for banning baseballs you are insensitive.

Ya'll leave baseball alone. This was natural selection American style. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is as American as baseball. Obviously this kid didn't have what it takes to be a good American and catch the god damned ball in the first place. It's sad but nature selected him not to be an American.
