Romney responds to Obama’s ‘silver spoon’ jab

It's not what I indicated. I said the WH was talking about the silver spoon comment.

Since you started the thread on it, I assumed you knew what the silver spoon comment was. Apparently not.

how could i possibly know what the WH said this morning, when i posted the thread yesterday?

uh huh.....sure

If you want to believe it is, it's up to you. Clearly, he's made the comment before in speeches - well before Mitt was a candidate. And if you read the context of his remarks this week (about education), the WH comments this morning are certainly credible.

President Barack Obama took a hard-to-miss shot at presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney on Wednesday, declaring "I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth" as he defended his economic policies in Ohio.

Obama didn't name Romney. He didn't need to. The president and his campaign have worked to make the former Massachusetts governor and millionaire investor's personal finances an issue in the election even as they hammer his economic proposals as giveaways to the rich financed by cutting services to everyone else—like financial aid for college students.

Did you read the full context of the remarks, and where he was making them?

Or is this writer's conclusion gospel to you?

it is my opinion it was a jab at romney. no surprise onceler and dung immediately jump to obama's defense.

And no surprise that you are determined to believe it was a jab, despite the WH's comments, despite the fact that he has used that phrase in other speeches over the past 4 years, and despite the fact that in context, he's talking about his education...

It's also a really, really, really weak attack line that no one with two functioning brain cells would actually use. The response is obvious and powerful and makes that person making the attack look like an asshole. That's why Romney jumped on it. It's a nice fat meatball and he smashed it out of the park.

Agreed. Opinions vary on Obama's Presidency, clearly - but he's not an idiot.

You are being purposely obtuse. I read the response from the White House one time and got it. Perhaps you should brush up on your reading comprehension. It was NOT some stretch of words by the White House to explain the comment. Really takes very little imagination at all to understand that is what they meant.

This is common for yurt. He can't read. He claims he was once a lawyer. Based on what I've seen of him I believe I can say with great confidence that he would never make it in any courtroom. Out on his ass he would go about the first time he opened his ignorant and obtuse mouth. BTW, he admitted that he was laid off as a lawyer but his firm was still hiring lawyers. Food for thought. :)

once again, don't make me repeat this a fourth time.....onceler did not provide what the wh fully said. i asked you for a link and you won't provide one. you apparently read or heard what they said, i have not. why don't you stop being an ass and simply provide a link, because we all know onceler won't.

Who cares if it was or wasn't? Mitt Romney ran viscous campaigns against Gingrich and Santorium. Am I supposed to be sobbing if someone did say he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth??? WTF? If he's that big of a p-word that he can't handle that, how's he going to stand up to Al Qaeda?

That's what worries me.

1) Do you know how to google anything...at all? It's a pretty common site that people use these days to search things.
2) I said the WH was talking about the "silver spoon comment." You took that to mean that he was saying his past was "silver spoon."
3) #2 is kind of funny

That 3:00 am phone call...will he be ready if he's lost sleep over people perceiving him as born wealthy?

An excellent point, Darla...
