another dishonest statement from romney

Rmoney wrote an op-ed with the headline "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" for Christ's sake. Who the hell does he think he's kidding?

Wow, that's amazingly blatant. So I guess this is going to be one of those campaigns. Truth is literally meaningless. Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?

It's the same with anyone on the right. They don't have to be accountable for the words that come out of their mouths, and you can't make them.
It's the beginning of the end, when reason, logic and common sense are turned on their heads. Well, I know who is not responsible for the madness.

If I were the Dems I'd be readying the ad about this now - something along the lines of and not only that, but Mitt Romney says he won WWII! And not only that, Mitt Romney says he killed Osama! And not only that, but Mitt Romney led the charge on Normandy!

I mean, they just need to mark him as a buffoon right from the beginning. If handled correctly, this could be the end of him. And I am not kidding.

Mitt Romney starred in The Matrix!

And all the Rightie whiners wonder why there isn't more political debate?

Here is a perfect example of something that needs to be discussed, and every single one of this board's Righties ran away.

There are lies…and then there are lies.

My own view, by the way, was that the auto companies needed to go through bankruptcy before government help. And frankly, that’s finally what the president did. He finally took them through bankruptcy. That was the right course I argued for from the very beginning. It was the UAW and the president that delayed the idea of bankruptcy. I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet. So I’ll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry’s come back.

I am not sure how one responds to Romney’s statement in light of his previous statements on how the government should have handled the auto industry rescue. “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” comes instantly to mind. What we do know is that by the time right-wing media gets done with it, Romney’s words will be the gospel truth in the land of wingnuttia and anything which counters that belief (aka: reality) will be the work of a lying, fiendish and manipulative liberal media. We all know the script by now.

Okay, repeat after me:

Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden
Romney saved the auto industry and Bush killed bin Laden

And don’t you forget it. A man’s dream of becoming the leader of the free world depends on it.

Unfortunately, the right don't care if Mitt lied just like they didn't care about that sleaze-bag Newt. Hell, an entire room of right wingers gave Newt a standing ovation in South Carolina after knowing he whored around on TWO wives. Mitt, following in the footsteps of McCain, will sell his soul for a shot at the White House and the right wingers will slither along with him. Values, principals and ethics mean nothing to many right wingers.

The upside is not only will the "undecided" get to see the true Republican Party and what it stands for but they'll see the real character of the typical Republican as they follow Mitt to election day. Believing in the innate decency of most Americans I'm willing to bet more than a few right wingers will think twice once in the voting booth. Considering what has already transpired followed by a summer and fall of lies and spins their conscience, at least those who have one, will be rattled to the bone.

i definitely think he is over zealous in how much credit he is due...then again, what politician isn't. btw...his comments are not dishonest, they are actually true, except for possibly how much credit he gets, however, that is just his opinion.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee told a Cleveland television station on Monday that President Barack Obama followed his lead when he ushered auto companies through a managed bankruptcy soon after taking office.
"I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet," Romney said in an interview inside a Cleveland-area auto parts maker. "So, I'll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back."

LOL

i did read it, his claim is based on that he said that the auto companies should go bankrupt and be refinanced by private funds, however, no private funds were available

But GM DID go into bankruptcy, no ? Just like Romney said they should......so whats the beef ?

he didn't say only private money....here is just one sentence:

It is not wrong to ask for government help, but the automakers should come up with a win-win proposition.

such astounding intelligence. i can't help but marvel at such an in depth analysis. like i said, you should actually read what he says and not parrot your left wing talking heads.

when and where did he say that

Actually, what Rmoney proposed with respect to the bankruptcy is guarantees for post-bankruptcy financing and assurance that manufacturer warranties weren't at risk. The trouble with that, of course, is that without government money the only bankruptcy process available would have been a Chapter 7 liquidation. There would be no post-bankruptcy entity to loan money to.

Romney was against it before he was for it. And he was only really for it after it worked.

I remember this from the '08 campaign, especially when McCain was pulling ahead & he was getting desperate; he's as shameless a politician at this level that I've seen in my lifetime. He'll literally say anything.

We're going to hear all kinds of fun stuff in this campaign...
