1/6 panel to recommend prosecuting Trump on 3 charges

The House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on our Capitol will take up criminal referrals against former President Donald Trump. The panel will urge the Justice Department to pursue at least three criminal charges against the one-term President, including insurrection. The other two charges that will be pursued are obstruction of an official proceeding of Congress and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

The report that the select panel is expected to consider on Monday afternoon, described to POLITICO by two people familiar with its contents, reflects some recommendations from a subcommittee that evaluated potential criminal referrals. Among the charges that the subcommittee proposes for Trump: 18 U.S.C. 2383, insurrection; 18 U.S.C. 1512(c), obstruction of an official proceeding; and 18 U.S.C. 371, conspiracy to defraud the United States government.

I'm excited to see if the DOJ acts. The talking head lawyers I've been listening to claims the DOJ could ignore the entire thing.

Trump has no defense against his theft of a truckload of classified documents. He even admitted to stealing them. In the process, he lied to the FBI and others in the government who just wanted the documents back.
He organized an insurrection that resulted in damage to the capitol and deaths with over 140 police injured.
Trump has no defense. he did it in public and private.

Yes, those of us connected to reality agree with you.

The same bunch of tards that tried twice to impeach him are now bringing a third round of similar charges to the first two times.

Just sayin'...

twump is a traitor to the nation he was supposed to protect. Those of us connected to reality are certain he's guilty as fuck.

It's kind of a bigger deal than a kid's laptop.

Much like you were the first two times he was impeached... No reality there. Schiff, the lead architect of those impeachments proved he was every bit the shitty, incompetent persecutor...err, prosecutor.
And, no, Bagman's laptop, like the Awan scandal, were major--MAJOR--things that could impact US national security for decades. If daddy Joke was really on the take, and I'm betting he was in up to his eyeballs, we have a current president that is utterly corrupt and bought off by foreign powers.

Even if Trump was trying some sort of "insurrection," it failed so miserably that it changed nothing. Trump isn't likely to be the Republican candidate in 2024 either, so that's that.

Bolton resigned over twump's bullshit with Ukraine. Bolton! twump did something too shitty for John, fucking Bolton. There were other people on that phone call. He should have been convicted and booted for that. But then he attacked his own country.

Unless we want a monarchy or a dictatorship, we need to hold our leaders accountable.

:rofl2:

Wallow in your misery, Arbie. Sane, mature and educated people can read the links.

So, you cannot or will not answer my question. When and where were "those hundreds of knives and other dangerous instruments" used?
I carry a pocket knife with me, I have since I was in school. Am I armed and ready to pull it and use it in an "insurrection"? LOL!!
Cry some more for me, child. Cry some more...

Only the stupid and the insane don't understand the difference between an impeachment and criminal charges, Terry.

Why do you condone Trump's theft of classified documents? Is it because you did the same thing in the Navy? Should NCIS be concerned?

Are you going to respond like that when you get out of high school?

Sybil has mental issues. He won't change without treatment no matter how old he is (which is probably 40s-50s) and, IMO, will only get worse over time. Eventually he'll be so bad he'll drop offline.

I've considered John Bolton an idiot since the 80's. The guy is dangerously stupid when it comes to foreign policy. He's the sort that gets you into wars you can't win because he tells you shit that's not true.

It's no surprise the "Jan 6 committee" (totally comprised of evil hate-filled Democrats) will try to indict Trump despite there was never an "insurrection."
It was nothing more than a bunch of unarmed and unorganized assholes storming the capitol and milling around for 3 hours and then leaving.

They were attempting to keep the election from being
Certified. That's treason 101
