So, do you want to have a debate on law and sentencing because on this matter I am very happy to engage. The life sentence is not mandatory for rape it is discretionary on the part of the judge. It IS mandatory for Murder in UK. The judge has no choice. Most rape convictions do not get a life sentence in UK. But some do because the severity of sentence is formed around RISK and notoriety. The determinate sentence procedure is applied. i/e 6 years - 10 years set term meaning the convict is released at the half way point. I thanks you for your sarky insults but on the subject of Life Sentences etc I am more than competent to debate it.I didn't realize a life sentence, which is the maximum for rape, is always less than 10 years in the UK, which is the maximum under the law you are complaining about.

The maximum sentence is 10 year for lying on the Travel Locater Form but it is not mandatory. In fact, the average sentence for lying on the Travel Locater Form is currently ZERO since no one has been sentenced to any jail time under this law.
The law is a day old. The average of zero is zero. The max is 10 years thus de facto a person can receive 10 years fro dishonest entries on the form. And the max for murder is life and the max for child molestation is 14 years or life for repeat offenders. You can't compare the maximum sentence for one crime to the average sentence for another crime. It is apples and oranges since most people are not sentenced to the maximum.

That would include it being rare for anyone to be sentenced to the maximum of 10 year for filling out a form wrong.
