So, do you want to have a debate on law and sentencing because on this matter I am very happy to engage. The life sentence is not mandatory for rape it is discretionary on the part of the judge. It IS mandatory for Murder in UK. The judge has no choice. Most rape convictions do not get a life sentence in UK. But some do because the severity of sentence is formed around RISK and notoriety. The determinate sentence procedure is applied. i/e 6 years - 10 years set term meaning the convict is released at the half way point. I thanks you for your sarky insults but on the subject of Life Sentences etc I am more than competent to debate it.
