$100,000,000.00

Not instead of. The package includes a billion in aid to Israel and 100 million for Palestinian relief.

As far as ridding Gaza of Hamas, since Israel is right there surrounding Gaza and we’re providing a billion more, the ball is in their court, dontcha think?

I am in no way one anyone should turn to for policy suggestions in this conflict. I'm not ignorant to what's going on but I'm not knowledgable enough to get into the weeds on actions that should be taken. At a high level I mean Israel could take care of the problem with their military might if that's what you are suggesting. Long term I don't know if going nuclear so to speak is the most feasible option?

I agree.

And, I would add - grievance is kind of a never-ending cycle. Do Palestinians have legit grievances against Israel? Of course. Are they legit enough to justify violence? Absolutely not - and particularly not the kind of violence we saw w/ Hamas' recent attack. There is no justification for that, ever.

Does Israel have legit grievances against Hamas? For sure..

I thought the same thing after 9/11. America has meddled in the Middle East for many decades, often dictating the politics there, and causing suffering. Did people there have legit grievances against the U.S.? It would be foolish to say they didn't. Enough to justify the attacks of 9/11? Fuck no. But, I can see why some citizens of the Middle East probably saw that as some sort of comeuppance.

And the grievance cycle continued. Our invasion of Iraq caused almost incomprehensible suffering & death, and was not justified. But Americans supported it, because WE were wronged. The disproportionate nature of the response did not matter at that time. It became more about lashing out than about justice.

We'll continue on this merry-go-round until people realize that the vast majority of OTHER people are just trying to get through life, figure it out, work & make enough money, raise their kids, etc. The differences between us aren't as big as the generalizations we make about each other would have us believe.

I'm not an expert on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but I know in a conflict this long no side is completely innocent and when Hamas has in their charter the desire to basically eradicate Israel/Jews that doesn't lend itself to much compromise.

Who knows, but if there is any time for Israel to make a major dent in Hamas, probably now is the time. Outside the Muslim world, they have support. A good part of Northern Gaza has been evacuated. It would take time and there will be casualties, but taking out their tunnel system, rounding up as many as possible, and maybe even getting to the point of removing those walls and seeing to a new election.

Yup

anyone in Gaza can be Hamas....Hamas fighters blend in so u better all of them as Hamas

No, that is wrong. It is not "yup." All of the civilians in Gaza are NOT Hamas. In fact, the vast majority are NOT Hamas

Why are you lying about that? What purpose does it serve?

Think about that....Jews have the Muslim world against them and most of them want them destroyed

I looked it up and indeed the 1988 charter said that. But a new charter was issued in 2017 without that language.

The 2017 charter accepted for the first time the idea of a Palestinian state within the borders that existed before 1967 and rejects recognition of Israel which it terms as the "Zionist enemy".[SUP][2][/SUP] It advocates such a state as transitional but also advocates "liberation of all of Palestine".[SUP][14][/SUP][SUP][15][/SUP] The new document also states that the group doesn't seek war with the Jewish people but only against Zionism which it holds responsible for "occupation of Palestine".[SUP][16][/SUP] Mashal also stated that Hamas was ending its association with the Muslim Brotherhood.[SUP][14][/SUP]

They may have attempted to soften their language but it still calls for the elimination of Israel. Peel back the onion and their attitude towards Jews hasn't changed.

For starters, you're saying 2 different things there. You are answering "yes" to his question, which implies that ALL of those children are fighters. That was his question.

Second, how do you know "many" are? Do you have links or stats?

Err on the side of caution........
