[h=2]Nothing seems to change with rich vs. poor - after 100 years[/h]

historia-do-titanic-11.jpg

The sinking of the RMS Titanic – when 1,514 people drowned out of a total 2,224 people on board – impacted mostly the lower class passengers.

The very rich were saved over women and children.

-- First class lost: 119 men, 11 women and children. First class saved: 54 men, 145 women and children.

-- Second class lost: 142 men, and 24 women and children. Second class saved: 15 men, and 104 women and children.

-- Third class lost: 417 men, 119 women and children. Third class saved: 69 men, 105 women and children.

-- Crew lost: 682 men and three women. Crew saved: 194 men and 20 women.

Overall, the numbers of rich first class lost numbered 130; while the number of third class or poor lost totaled 536; for about five times more lower class than rich perished when the Titanic sank.

As the wealthy panicked after that fateful Sunday, April 15, 1912, the poor in the lower class decks worried about women and children getting to the lifeboats that were already commandeered by the rich men; while poor lower class women and children passengers were left wanting.

This was not the only 1% coward who saved his ass that day?!!

1514 people did not drowned, if you went down with the ship or did not have a life jacket on you drowned, if you had a life jacket on and jumped into the frigid water you died of hypothermia! The word hypothermia did not exist in 1912.

1) they froze to death, most didn't drown

2) Nobody cares about proles

3) If I paid good money for a ticket, that should include life saving too. That's why you pay more. Why should someone that paid way less have the same shot at living?

4) 1%ers seem to be more chivalrous. 10:1 men death ratio. Looks like the poor proles have their own war on women given that the men:women death rate for them is 4:1.

4) you liberals need to understand how little proles matter. They don't. It's like a mosquito demanding to be listened to and heard, but all you hear is annoying buzzing before you roll your eyes and swat it.

And?

1) 2) Nobody cares about proles

Nobody cares about you, perhaps.

3) If I paid good money for a ticket, that should include life saving too. That's why you pay more. Why should someone that paid way less have the same shot at living?

Did the second and third class passengers pay "good money for a ticket"? Yes, or no?

BTW, you would have been in steerage, prole.

First Class tickets ranged from £30 for a berth to £870 for a luxury suite with a private fifty-foot promenade. A Second Class ticket could be purchased for as little as £12.

Steerage tickets ranged from £3 to £8. I have seen various estimates of how much that would be worth in current US dollars, but the cheapest ticket would have cost a clerk, typist, or shipyard worker a month's salary. The most expensive First Class ticket was similar in price to that of the most expensive luxury automobile.

4) 1%ers seem to be more chivalrous. 10:1 men death ratio. Looks like the poor proles have their own war on women given that the men:women death rate for them is 4:1.

Care to substantiate those figures?

First Class women and children were about 6% of those aboard the Titanic, but constituted 20% of the survivors. In contrast, steerage passengers were a third of all aboard, but only one fourth of those saved.

Third Class (Steerage) Men: Total: 440 Died: 381 Survived: 59 Percentage Survived: 13%

Third Class (Steerage) Women: Total: 179 Died: 91 Survived: 88 Percentage Survived: 49%

First Class women and children were about 6% of those aboard the Titanic, but constituted 20% of the survivors.

At least three of the four women in First Class who perished had the opportunity to board a lifeboat but elected to stay with their husbands and/or family. When they initially made their decisions, most passengers still believed that the Titanic would and could not sink and may have been fearful for the safety of the lifeboats and the boarding process itself.

A "Women and children only" rule was applied on the port side of the ship; a "Women and children first" rule was applied on the starboard, with known exceptions for First Class men.

In contrast, steerage passengers were a third of all aboard, but only one fourth of those saved.

4) you liberals need to understand how little proles matter. They don't. It's like a mosquito demanding to be listened to and heard, but all you hear is annoying buzzing before you roll your eyes and swat it.

Since I'm not a liberal, but you are a prole, (not being a one percenter) swat yourself.
